Slight whine from 60 mph up getting louder at 80

I have noticed a whine not sure if its gearbox, engine, diff or drive shaft etc. Its really hard to tell where its coming from. It starts at about 60 but is most noisy around 80 mph. I have noticed however it stops when I take my foot off the throttle. Then as soon as I apply it again it starts again (between 60 and 80mph). Any ideas?

I know you got it repaired under warenty,
but any idea about the cost of a Transfer Box?

Think i've got the same problem.... SW

Sorry no idea, but if you push Land Rover you can often get a Post Warranty claim where they may offer to help with the cost Thumbs Up GONE** RRS 3.0SC Silver fully loaded Smile - 2020 110 loving it

I have the same problem, more of a vibration then a whine though.

My LR guy diagnosed as front-left axle (drive shaft), he explained that under load the two wheels that receive the majority of the engine power are front left and rear right. He said that he could grab the front-left drive shaft and make it clunk.

I think he's right.

Oh and when he dropped my car off tonight he crashed in the snow. Rear quarter, rear bumper, rear light and steering wheel out of alignment now.

Oh well.

lol, to be fair he was really embarrassed. He's getting it fixed up, putting '09 rear lights in to replace the bust one and offered to waive the charge for the sway-bar bushes he was replacing.

I feel bad for the guy, he certainly feels worse about the situation than I do !
