NP The problem is I am about as far as you can get from the village exchange without being outside the village and all the kiddies live between my house and the exchange. We also have no fibre optics yet, it's a good old copper-wire line between the houses and exchange here. My parents live next door to the exchange and get download rates I can only dream of! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Distance is the killer for DSL services, but as Nick says worth seeing if your ISP can put you on a lower contention ratio service - might cost an extra few quid a month, but worth it. I am with Plusnet and use their 20:1 product, much more responsive than their 50:1 service which is what I started out with many moons ago. |

Cool, Hope it helps M8 ![]() One thing I forgot to mention is that you may see an immidiate improvement but normally it takes a few days of use to get the best improvement, Not too sure of the exact reason but it's something to do with the way the BT exchange calculates what bandwidth to allocate to you and this is a dynamic function so can take a few days for their systems to see that your line speed can be increased --- Or something like that -- I'm sure you will find a highly techie explanation on the web if you want to know the exact details. ![]() 2013 Evoque 5 Door Pure Tech SD4 - Orkney Grey with Panoramic Roof (Mrs E's new baby) GONE - RRS - 3.0 TDV6 HSE - Santorini (2010) GONE - RRS - 2.7 TDV6 HSE - Java Black (2007) GONE - Porsche Boxster S - 3.2 - Black ![]() |

Picked one up this afternoon and already I see a vast improvement. Normally at this time of the evening I am lucky to see 100kbps,more like 50-80kbps - I'm now getting 500-900kbps with spikes to 1.3mbps! |

On the subject of broadband speeds, anyone any ideas why my neighbour right next to me gets 11meg speed yet I only get 5.5 meg?? Only difference is hes with BT (doesnt have the plate thingy) and Im with O2! Am I being cynical thinking that BT "strangle" the data speeds to make their product look the best?? Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.
