HEADLIGHTS

Hi , i have a 08 TDV6 "s" and has normal headlights (non xenons) , spoke to LR and xenons cannot be fitted aftermarket due to wiring issues.

Can any one reccomend if i could fit "upgraded" xenon like bulbs ?

Is so can you guide me to where i can buy , and how easy to fit ?

THANK YOU in advance

England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Not 100% sure but i think its illegal to fit xenon bulbs to non xenon lights. I read a couple of years ago if i remember correctly and its due to the fact that they have to be self adjusting units as they are so bright and not to blind on coming motorist when driving. Also maybe something to do with the actual power they produce as well and the wiring cant take it.

May be worth checking though as I maybe completely wrong.

I thought all RRS had xenon lights, (you learn something new every day).

Good luck.

2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver

I have read this too.

They MUST be self levelling and have a focussing lens (the optic that looks like a mini magnifying glass). Also, you have to always have headlamp washers too (fitted as standard on ALL makes & models of cars with xenons), as the heat needs to escape and mud coated headlamp lens would make the units melt from the build up of heat.

I'm not sure about the wiring, but xenons can pack a powerful punch if you catch the discharge (can be lethal I have heard). So it makes sense that there must be some heavy duty wiring behind all that power.

Hope this helps.

I bought a kit on e-bay some time ago and fitted it to a Renault van, you need to identify what type of lamp fits the range rover and buy the correct kit, the lamps are identified by h4, h7, etc etc.

The kits come complete with ballasts and are easy enough to fit if your handy, most kits will only give you main beam on xenon but the one I got had a solenoid set up which gave low and high beam on xenon, they look good with the 5k or 6k colour lamps(you get a choice)but I would say other than looks they weren't drastically better than standard halogen lamps.
