Cam belt changes are at the 70k mark I think... it's usually mileage related rather than time related as it's based on wear.

Apparently the TDV6 still has a belt !! Not sure about the TDV8 but the Petrol has a chain.

TDV6.... Front (cam belt) and rear(HP fuel pump belt)..require changing @ 105,000miles or 7 yrs whichever the sooner. RRS TDV8 Buck Blue (no, not now in my dreams). ..........D3 TDclankety clankV6 ............BMW 318i |

The cam belt is no big deal but the rear belt is a big problem.

One of the D3 guys had the 105,000m service done recently and the bill (if I remember rightly) wasn't that extortionate, so I presume the dealership he used has managed to find a less labour intensive way of changing the rear belt. I don't think there is any more room at the back of the engine on a D3 either, in fact I can't see how they can get to anything without removing many parts.... ISTR the book time is about 7 hours for the cam belt (engine out) , ,but some dealers have done it in 4 hours removing the body.
