RRS & D4 MY2010 via Faultmate FCR Review.

Over the last few months i have had the great pleasure of working and helping with the developement and testing of the new MY2010 D4 & RRS diagnostic tools from BBS https://blackbox-solutions.com

Today was my final day of testing of the NEW Faultmate FCR (Fault Code Reader) on the D4 and RRS MY2010 models.

The Faultmate FCR is aimed at the independant home user having a diagnostic tool that can accurately diagnose and display in plane scroling test across its LCD screen the faults stored EG
P0404 Exhaust gas recirculation control - circuit range/performance

and at the same time giving you the means to clear any faults in ANY of the modules on your car.

This tool i think is the worlds first non LandRover developed tool that can read and clear faults on all modules on the new model D4 & RRS MY2010 cars, which to me is outstanding considering they have only been on the market since September 09.

Here are a few pictures of the tool in action.

The first picture is of the FCR booting up into the main menu, for these pictures and ease of use i had to actually ask Colin at BBS to send me a special firmware patch to slow the thing down so i could get time to press the camera button lol.
This thing is that fast at processing the information on the 11Bit CAN its quite frightening and if you blink you miss it opperating lol.

This next picture is of the main menu at the beginning after the boot screen.

Scroling down the menu to some of the other modules.

After pressing the A (Accept) button you will get the Read/Clear menu.

Again after pressing the A (Accept) button you will be shown any faults that are present in the system/module you choose.

If for some reason by mistake you choose a module that is not actually present on your car or it has a major communications error on the module you will get this message.

To summarize in the words of Gordon ramsay

2010 Diagnostics on the BBS Faultmate FCR DONE

Very nice Bow down

Daft question time?

I own an RRS TDV6 58 plate and Disco 3 XS Commercial TDV6 58 plate - does the same tool access both (with just the one purchase) Question That would make it a very economical purchase for me Question Smoke me a kipper: I'll be back for breakfast.

RRS HSE TDV6 gone after 15 months since new - will not be missed I'm afraid - bit of a gremlin in there somewhere - too many issues. Replaced with FFRR Vogue TDV8 - very nice - not as sporty (of course) but absolute luxury.

Can we ever expect something similar to the VAG tool Audi/Volkswagen owners use? I.e. be able to change settings with the tool - those settings that are using only available to the dealer with their system. I'm thinking stuff like enabling Destination on the Move; Driving lights, folding mirrors etc. 2010 Sport Supercharged with all options apart from TV and Extended leather (wish I had the latter) (Previously 2007 RRS S/C)

949BFN - BBS make the Faultmate MSV2 that lets you change the CCF (Car Configuration Files) etc - this lets you enable alot of options. I'm not sure they have one ready for the 2010 models yet - the electronics are all changed from pre 2010 models.

The update for the MY2010 MSV2 stuff especially the CCF will be very soon, its 99% done and we are just doing the final testing now.
I have the Beta MSV2 2010 stuff now and its all good Smile

So then as said you can change many things on your car.

Nav on the move works on my 2010 as standard so it should on yours !!
