Briatore off the hook?

French courts have overturned Briatore's life ban from formula 1 as they say the FIA don't have the power to ban him!

So who does? He's now free to return to the sport but will anyone be willing to hire him after the cheating allegations?

Or is this no worse than team orders when a driver blatently let's a team mate pass?

From what I understand, the FIA can only ban people who are affiliated with the FIA. That includes drivers etc but strangely DOESN'T include team bosses.

What the French court have ruled is that as this is the law, the FIA cannot ban him.

What the court did NOT rule, was that he is innocent of what he is accused of doing, just that the FIA were not in a position to ban him from the sport.

His solicitor was on BBC news yesterday saying that he could now start to attempt to clear his name... Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

The sham of a trial that the FIA gave him was also to blame. If they had done it properly, and he was found guilty, then this wouldn't have happened.

They should let him back in - going to be boring with no re-fuelling next year so tw*tting one into the wall (on request of the pit boss) puts a whole new spin on it Shocked Smoke me a kipper: I'll be back for breakfast.

RRS HSE TDV6 gone after 15 months since new - will not be missed I'm afraid - bit of a gremlin in there somewhere - too many issues. Replaced with FFRR Vogue TDV8 - very nice - not as sporty (of course) but absolute luxury.
