Steve personally I always use the dealer, but the dealer I use isn't like all the others he is a really good guy. If you do buy it I would use the dealer the 1st time.

Yes I am, deal has been done verbally, just need to get some paperwork sorted out and then off to fetch it, (as soon as the snow has cleared ). |

You don't need to wait for the snow to clear, even with the S/C, just push the TR knob and select Grass, Gravel and Snow and drive! If the going gets very tough then stop, go into N press the Hi/Lo button to go into Low Ratio, after the ping select D and shift the selector into the M/S +/- and manually shift through the gears! You get far further than most other brand of SUV.

It's not the getting back that's the problem, it's the getting there, tried to get out today in the X5 and it was an absolute waste of time, that's the trouble when you've got 20" rims with low profile tyres on a pretend 4x4, ( thought I would say it before someone else ). The only other choice is my partners st3, don't even go there. |

20" wheels and Low profils on the RRS in snow, drove home through 10-15 cms on 22nd Dec on the M74 when it appeared only Land Rovers and Ford Focuses on winter tyres seemed to be moving, everything else was stopped and sliding.

been snowing all day in Sheffield, sat it out till 3 when everyone else has got to work, got home or abandoned and had a very satisfactory drive home in deep snow passing transits, subaroooos and ordinary motors all falling by the way side. 20" low profile conti's and not a problem, awesome purple people eater

i had a fortunate experience at Stratstones Newport where by the young lady on the phone quoted me 399 all inclusive for a B service.. fortunately my lines are recorded.. later they tried to bill me the correct price of 594, but in fairness when I protested they did put it through at 399 - which is a really good price for a TDV8 at a main dealer franchise |

I have been qouted £420 for a 75K mile service, not that the car has done anywhere near that,(25K), I take it that for the age of the car that is an average sort of mileage.

Steve that sounds about right for a standard service. While you are there ask if they would look up the service history for you on the LR service system - especially ask them to check the cam belts are not due for changing. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Why would the cam belt need changing after just 25K miles? |

Because many are also time related too! My Defender had it's cambelt changed at 7 years old and 54000 miles because Land Rover say it should be done at 7 years or 72000 miles whichever comes first! Another 7 years and only 20000 miles later it is due again this year...................... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
