Snow Program

Is there a recommended maximum speed limit whilst using this program ?

I know on other programs there is a need to select Lo but not with the above ?

Thanks

Sorry - thread hijack Smile

I was using GGS yesterday in low range and noticed occasionally that the LCD display under my clocks would show a steering wheel icon and which way my wheels were pointing (a simplified version of the satnav screen on off road mode)

Why does it sometimes do this?
I was trying to work out if it was related to losing traction but in the end didnt think so

Cheers!

No, just drive according to the conditions on the road, and the type of tyres you have.

Without wanting to sound rude, suggest you go on a Land Rover Experience (or similar) event to get some off road driver training..! Thumbs Up

I noticed the vanishing wheels as well

With regards to speed limit, i don't think it maters the mapping will only let you drive the car as the setting allows Thumbs Up

Hope you have all been practising that smug look when passing all those 'green' cars stuck by the road (we need a new emoticon - SMUG) MY10 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Zermatt Silver, 20" Diamond Turned Alloys, Factory Privacy Glass, Premium Leather, Contrast Stiching, Side Steps, Etc

It to show which way your tyres are turned.

Basically if your going down a muddy slope/rut and you have been trying to brake using the sidewalls on the rut sides you could have come to a stop with your wheels point in any old direction, this is to let you know which way your pointing, so when you then apply the gas your cars going to go in the direction its showing you, not the direction you think it would

Sure somebody has another explanation which might make more sense Laughing , but that's why it there, its in other programs too Thumbs Up

Fair comment, however since Ive had the car Ive done my best to provoke it, even on severe split mu surfaces, and have so far failed to get the traction control light on - although I eventually managed it tonight on sheet ice Mr. Green
Which explains how I came to be unsure if Id ever lost traction before or not and as it turned out I never had previously

Thanks for the advice but again today I get the display taken over seemingly randomly, it is only there now and again and definitely not all the time

Putting the two together I had assumed I get the LCD wheel alignment display when the cars losing traction, however I had never previously managed to light the traction control lamp until I did today under (severe) provocation

So my question remains when exactly does the LCD display get taken over light this - it cannot be random Im sure

Cheers Thumbs Up

Not meaning to hijack the original - but this is kinda linked - snow program has been great - but can you change back to normal whilst in motion? 2 times I have used it - and gone back to normal - I have lost all power when in gear - it has needed me to restart the car and then all works fine again.....any ideas??

Strange you should be able to switch programs without any issues described

Sounds like a software issue - definitely not normal.

Have had no problems tonight driving 90 odd miles on snow bound motorways at up to 50mph in GGS and then switched back to normal highway mode. The damping sensation of the remapped ECU takes a bit of getting used to as you seem to have to push the gas pedal an awful long way before anything seems to happen, but it worked faultlessly when changing back and forth between GGS and highway/normal mode. I didn't need Low box at all, in fact I think you would have to be really stuck to need to use Low box in snow, I appreciate that offroad on grass and gravel then yes Low Box would be a must.
I must admit my biggest worry tonight was the thought that at any minute my 20" tyres would get their treads clogged up and become slicks but they too worked faultlessly even at 2 years old with 23000 miles on them and 4mm of tread left the car felt assured and confidence inspiring and not once did I hear the taktaktak of the TC cutting in or see the flashing TC light come on in the whole trip. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

You can switch between the various special programs whilst driving and even high/low range (low speed), you must have a problem Confused MY10 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Zermatt Silver, 20" Diamond Turned Alloys, Factory Privacy Glass, Premium Leather, Contrast Stiching, Side Steps, Etc

Ash I wouldn't try changing from Hi to Lo box at anything above 15mph, I think you would leave a lot of cogs on the road under the car! I think the electronics won't allow you to shift Hi to Lo anyway above 15mph.

BTW Is everybody aware that you can adjust the HDC speed using the cruise control +/- key? Never run with HDC swicthed on any longer than you need as it will eat your brake disks and pads if it operates too frequently! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
