Driving Conditions M27/A34/M40/M42/M6/M74 tonight

I'm driving north from Hampshire to Scotland tomorrow (Tuesday 22nd) and wondered if anybody living near to or has used the M27/A34/M40/M42/M6/A74 roads tonight can tell me what the driving conditions are like.
At 5:30pm tonight the M27 wasn't too bad with slushy snow on both lanes but the sleet was turning more and more to snow and further east on the M3 all I could hear on the traffic reports was - North Hampshire and Surrey sections were at a standstill and the slip road inclines were impassable in a normal car.

VA advises that his part of Surrey is not a problem with clear roads 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

United Kingdom

Some of my colleagues took 5 hours to get from Reading to Bicester this evening during the worst of the snow. Shocked

Tim,

0200am 22/12 - I've just driven up the A34. Still snowing on the high ground, but the road is fairly clear on both lanes and I'm not aware of any issues on it as I type.
All depends on whether it freezes in early hours as there is now a lot of standing water on the roads.

M40 from J9 and 10 north is clear.

Main roads aren't an issue. Minor roads are a different story. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Tim,

I've just come into London on the M25/M1 and it is fine. The rural roads around the Chilterns are to be avoided due to abandoned cars. If it were me I'd head north on the main motorways, and if you need to stop off at CHPR for a break then you know the kettle's on!

Good luck!

James Thumbs Up

had a great time in Hull - it does give me the hump when I hear so much bad press about the area.

Nice people and a great night out.
