Icy Roads - Best 4WD Setting?

Hi,

Only had my RR Sport for 6 weeks & have never had any proper training/experience at using the 4WD system properly - although I'm on the waiting list for an Experience Day at Eastnor Castle near Ledbury.

My question to those who are in the know - is what is the best setting for driving my sport on icy roads? Should I keep it in the normal position & just use the paddleshift gears to slow down gradually - or twist the dial to the grass/snow position - which locks the rear + central diff?

Sorry if this is a daft question - it's just I took my daughter to school this morning & the police shut a road due to a bad crash on an icy road - if there's a better/safer setting for my car on a day like today i'd like to use it!

Thanks in advance! '10 Jaguar XKR Coupe 5.0L Supercharged.

like the LR Experience Guys say, look out the windscreen and select the dial Smile

If its icy/slippy then there is no harm in selecting Grass gravel snow it will lighten the throttle response to avoid wheel spin etc whilst accelerating

but the MAIN thing to remember a 4x4 will not stop any quicker if the wheel lock up than any 2x4 car Thumbs Up

so travel at a suitable speed that you can stop safety
