Ever had an EPB problem? Read on

If any of you have had issues with your EPB, can I ask that you consider filling in a VOSA vehicle safety defect report form:

http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/repository/veh...report.doc

I have had enough. Last night I found myself stuck in the middle of the M25 in fog with a seized EPB. Manual release failed and had to use brute force in Low Range to get on to the hard shoulder and then onto (and off of) the recovery vehicle. Car was fixed today, but LR Warranty refused to pay (15 months old, 31,000 miles, fully serviced). Won't go into the details, other than to say I'm indebted to Guy Salmon Maidstone and Yeovil Land Rover for their efforts on my behalf. Thumbs Up

Can I urge EVERYONE who has had an EPB failure to complete this form and send it to vsb@vosa.gov.uk

I am determined that LR should acknowledge the inherent weakness of this design and that they should undertake a programme of redesign, recall and fitment. Cost to LR? Frankly I don't care. I do not appreciate being treated like a tw@t after spending the best part of 6 figures with them in the last 3 years and I can't stand by and wait for someone to be hurt or killed because of this ludicrous situation.

I'll be submitting a request to VOSA under the Freedom of Information Act to see how many reports, if any, have been submitted and what tests, if any, they may have undertaken so far.

Your help in this campaign is appreciated.

Doc

completely agree with you, Love the car, but having a lot of trouble convincing myself I should buy another.
I've had numerous faults with the EPB, but not yet seized on me.

Alan,

have you posted this on the D3 website? They have a rather long running post on the EPB.
Will look to complete VOSA doc if my problems are applicable to their criteria.

I have had problems with mine.

It first started when I heard a clunking noise when applying the EPB. A week later, I parked at my house, pulled the EPB and there was an extremely loud noise, which sounded like I had trapped the neighbours cat in the wheels. This lasted for about 5 seconds, and then the dash lit up with EPB error. I took the key out and then back in to restart the car. The brakes were jammed on.

LR told me that the brakes had come out of alignment. They replaced the brakes, and sorted the problem FOC.. RRS TDV8 HSE - Hybrid TV - Sunroof - Adaptive Front Headlights - Harman/Kardon LOGIC7 system

I would hypothisise that Land Rover probably gave one of the following excuses:

a) none oem sized wheels,
b) none oem tyres sizes or AT tyres
c) its a design "characteristic" of the car

Seems Land Rover will try anything not to have to honour the warranty, so if you've changed your car in any small way from the way you collected it from the delaer you are at risk... Rolling Eyes

I'm experiencing this first hand myself! Mad

As far as I can understand from yuor answer I have to consider that once EPB is blocked there is no way to unlock it, unles you call Land Rover and ask them to collect the car.

No chance to try to fix the problem by yourself and move to the closest garage?

Is the situation so brutal?

I had to get mine uplifted and taken to the nearest LR garage then I spent a fruitless day waiting for a loan car to turn up from LR Assist only to be told I would have to go collect it from Luik airport about 100miles south of the garage and in the opposite direction to which I had to go.

On my MY 10 had a flashing EPB light twice on start up which means a fault. Tried to release it without luck. Switched off car switched back on and its ok! Think it might be software related?
