As yet we don't get 100Mb cable in the UK (although it's coming), so I've not seen one to recommend...

Mmmm... I'm no expert, but my thinking would be that unless you have a 'wireless n' router and capable similar capable network card you will not get anywhere near 100MBits actual on your wireless.

Angel needs 100Mb on the WAN port, not on the LAN side |

Angel is lucky enough to have 100Mb cable service, yet his router only "manages" 33Mb on the WAN side, meaning from his PC to the "internet" he'll only ever get what the router can manage, let alone what he gets on his own network.... what Angel is after is a router that will give him a 100Mb carrier so that the internet at large is his bottleneck, not like 99% of us, the connection into our homes. Not that I do IT for a living or anything.... ![]() ![]() 2009 Outstanding Contribution Award - Joint Runner Up 2009 'Tech-Head Of The Year' Award - Runner Up Like it here? Then Donate to RRSPORT!! |

Angel does your switch support splitting and amplifying?

When you say connecting directly to the internet, do you mean via a USB modem or something?

for a good 1000Mbps connection using a non wireless router I would recommend something like a DLink DGL4100 but you will also need a 1000Mbps network adaptor in the PC with a card like a Dlink DGE560T if you have a spare PCI slot.... so you may get most of this bandwidth around your network but I doubt once you get past the modem it will continue.... well at least it doesnt here with our cable service.
