iPhone 3GS on 010 RRS

Does an iPhone 3GS work fine on the 2010? The Land Rover bluetooth section does not recommend it - "The audio is not always routed to the vehicle system when accepting a call using the vehicle system." I'm hoping this is old information.

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

We have a D4 (LR4) 2010 which I guess will have the same system as the RRS. Our Iphone 3G S is intermittent. When it works it works very well with full transfer of data from phone to vehicle and easy on screen controls and steering wheel controls. But - it doesn't always work. I guess 25% of the time the vehicle doesn't want to know about the phone. I had been thinking that was a fault on the phone not picking up the vehicle properly - but maybe its an issue with the LR itself ? RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

South Africa 2007 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Chawton White

I tried mine (3Gs) on a my2010 at the dealer the other day and it seemed to be working fine. Just did a quick test however. On my current RRS, it works fine as well. Syncs faster e.g. than my Nokia E71. Even the Last Dialed lists seems to work with the iPhone.
As far as the media interface is concerned, I tested that quickly as well. (i.e. on the my2010). Although the iPhone gave an pop-up-error about incompatibility, it seemed to be working ok and I could browse playlists and control the iPhone from the RRS's media interface. I noticed however that the iPhone was not charging and afterwards found this somewhere (believe it was somewhere on this forum):
LM - New Range Rover
LS - Range Rover Sport
LA - Discovery 4
Title 10MY Land Rover Latest Apple Products not charging
Last Modified 27-JUL-2009 08:14
Category Electrical
Symptom 207000 Entertainment Systems
Content

Issue:
The latest generation iPhone, iPod Touch and iPod Nano do not charge when used with the Portable Audio Interface ( integrated iPod vehicle adapter).

Cause:
Apple have changed the power supply strategy on their latest models. The products affected are as follows:
iPhone 3G
iPhone 3G S
iPod Touch 2nd Generation
iPod Nano 4th Generation

Action:
Should a customer state that their Apple products (listed above) do not charge from the vehicle power supply, direct the customer to purchase a Scosche passPORT Car Charging Adapter. This can be obtained from various retailers or the Apple store by copy and pasting either of the links below into a web browser:
- US Store http://store.apple.com/us/product/TS696LL/...MjIwMTg2NQ
- UK Store http://store.apple.com/uk/product/TS696LL/...Mjg0NjU4Mw

NOTE - This change has been instigated by Apple on their products and payment for the adapter is the customer's responsibility.

Land Rover engineering are currently working on a solution, this will be the subject of a further communication. 2010 Sport Supercharged with all options apart from TV and Extended leather (wish I had the latter) (Previously 2007 RRS S/C)

work about 60% of the time on my MY2010.

sometimes it will ring both on the phone and on the car system but if you try to press green to answer it doesnt work so you have to use the handset. I usually hang up and try again and it works ok the second time round.

every now and again - even in an area of high signal strength - i migh see a 'phone not connected' warning come up for a few minutes.

the specific charger doesn't work but you can do it through the USB port provided.

Censored poor for a car of this value,

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Alaska White

This used to happen occasionaly on my MY07 with the first generation of Iphone but only after Iphone had updated its software. The problem disappeared once a further Iphone update had been loaded.

This may well be a problem with the 3GS and LR and once a software update on both sides is available it will probably cure it. There is supposed to be an upgrade for the LR software on its way soon.

The above links to Apple Store do not work - looks like the product has been removed ! MY10 TDV6 HSE, Alaska White, Ebony with Contrast, Park Heat, Paddle Shift, Privacy, Heated Steering Wheel, Extended & Premium Leather,

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

3GS works fine with my 10MY RRS - it actually works well pairing with the phone quicklty and giving good call quality.

The Apple adaptor - http://store.apple.com/uk/product/TS696LL/A?mco=MTExNTY3Mjc - will allow the iPhone to charge and interface with the entertainment system (although not required for the latter) but you will still get the interferance warning on the iPhone although it has not been an issue if you do not put it into 'Airplane Mode'.

Hopefully LR will come up with a new fly lead which will solve the problem - they only had 12 months notice from the introduction of the 4th generation iPods and iPhone 3G in Summer 2008 to get the interface right for the 10MY Laughing - don't know why I am laughing it is pathetic really for a vehicle in this price range.

Although I am finding many of these things with my first RRS - like the cupholder in the centre console which opens if you accelerate hard or go up a steep hill, and the horribly exposed wiring on the dynamic response sensors under each wheel arch which is just screaming to be damaged by any stones flung around or water spray. The engineering and design are brilliant but the build quality and attention to detail is poor - Rant over
