Time to get Clarkson

Reading the write up in the times today about the new disco. Calling all Disco owners murderers, not my words but Wink Wink

Near the end of it he says "it is impossible to drive a Discovery without thinking of a Range Rover, I'm not talking about that gastly Range Rover Sport but what I call a porper Range Rover, aka the best car in the world".

In a way, he's right...

The FFRR is still the daddy and the RRS, as much as we love 'em is an imposter.

You said it yourself at the FL2 launcj at the motorshow mate, the RRS isn't a proper Range Rover Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Yes I did and I agree, but he has no right to say that about my lovely car. About the dico ownwers tho. Laughing Laughing

The RRs is more of an exciting ride and you can hammer it. The daddy on the other hand is a full on gentlemans car, you can't be a hooligan in it, you need to cruise and enjoy.

But my next purchase will of course be a big daddy as I'm at that age now. Sad Sad

Any man who rates the Volvo XC90 can not be taken seriously! I seem to recall Mrs Clarkson has/had a Volvo XC90! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Clarkson's entitled to his opinion like any other idiot is.

But as you say Mis, the RRS compliments the FFRR and Disco as it can give a rewarding drive on tarmac. The others are a Limo and a People Carrier. Very good ones mind.

The more important thing for me is where would LR be without the RRS, the profits generated and raised profile of the brand made it a viable option for Tata when Ford wanted to offload LR.

The fact the demand for the RRS is so high tells you people want this type of car, were LR supposed to ignore the X5 sector completely after BMW had prevented them from building one.

How can you take anyone seriously that tucks their shirt in their jeans. Rolling Eyes

Clarkson just says what he thinks is cool or controversial at the time, to get a reaction! He is NEVER consistant in his opinions and therefore his comments cannot be taken seriously. If you remember this is the guy who was wetting his pants with excitement about How Great the RRS was when he did his stupid "I can outrun a Challenger 2 tank" stunt when the RRS first appeared on the scene. Now he descibes it as "gastly" Rolling Eyes 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black
