First thing in a morning and never at any other time, I get a loud whoosh from the box but ONLY in 1st gear - it goes as soon as next gear selected. Dealer reckons this is normal.

I also think that the box whines on overrun but it's only noticeable at low speeds.

Any opinions please?

The big whoosh is down to the viscous couplings in your cooling fans getting up to speed Both my RRS and D3 sound like hovercraft launching off particularly on cold mornings (frightens the school kids at the local bus stop)

RRS HSE TDV6 gone after 15 months since new - will not be missed I'm afraid - bit of a gremlin in there somewhere - too many issues. Replaced with FFRR Vogue TDV8 - very nice - not as sporty (of course) but absolute luxury.
