Land Rover sales continue to grow

Land Rover sales continue to grow
UK firm records second consecutive month of increased sales.
Auto Express Car Reviews13th October 2009It’s been another good month for Land Rover in the showrooms. After posting increased sales year-on-year in August, the UK firm has just announced it has managed to repeat the feat for a second consecutive month. Total sales were recorded at over 7,000 in the UK alone, a 27% increase compared to the same month lastyear.

Sales breakdown

* The Discovery range: +48%
* Freelander 2 +37%
* Range Rover +25%
* Range Rover Sport +20%

Managing director of Land Rover UK, John Edwards, summed it up by saying, "It is encouraging that for the second consecutive month Land Rover has seen an improvement in sales figures. This is testimony to the outstanding success of the new 2010 model year vehicles which have recently been launched to rave reviews and reflects a stability starting to return to the marketplace which is critical to the business. It also reaffirms that Land Rover continues to offer products that are practical and above all desirable to customers."

Good to hear. Thumbs Up

But TBH, if their sales didn't increase on the low levels of 12months ago with a complete new range of models except the freebie, then someone would have some explaining to do.

Surprised the RRS is only up 20%, doubt they were shifting that many last year. Maybe there has been a shift to value in the D4, seeing as it has stepped up massively in looks and refinement levels from the D3.

People are seeing the versatility of the D3/D4, scaling down from two cars to one multi purpose vehicle in a lot of cases.

Or you can interpret the sales of RRS only being up 20% because they have always been the biggest seller and buying trends are more stable. The D4 maybe up nearly 50% because sales were v low to start off with and the new model has stimulated more sales now?

What be interesting to see, is what model contributes the most profits? 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE

As the RRS was Ford's most profitable car ever, would have thought the RRS is most profitable for LR as well.
