Recall - brakes on RRS and D3...

Today, I was made aware that some (50.000 to be exact) of the 2008 vehicles (RRS and D3) have been recalled by the DVLA due to issues with brakes.
Though, when I wanted to book my car in with y local dealer, I was told that my does not need doing.
Does anyone know more about this recall? Which cars are affected?

Good Point Coko Thumbs Up

The VOSA website shows two seperate recalls dated 28/09/09, five when split out by build date range.

Have a look at this link:

http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/searches/search.asp

Sorry forgot how to do the rename link thingy.

The recall notice appeared on GTR yesterday and states it relates to RRS and Disco3 TDV6 cars with certain VIN numbers - the range is quite big although I guess many will be TDV8's or V8 petrol.

Vehicles produced between - November 2005 and April 2007 (LA367110-LA440000 and
LS929086-LS117000) and

Vehicles produced between May 2007 and June 2009 (LA440001-LA513325 and
LS117001-LS215618)

The problem described is a progressive lost of vacuum assist resulting in a hard brake pedal and greater stopping distances. Guess you would notice if your brakes weren't working so well but it appears they are recalling all the vehicles to check to see if the car shows any mechanical symptoms.

Singe,

thanks for that confirmation.

The recall maybe described by LR as progressive, however a few on here have had the vacuum pump fail resulting in little or no braking.
And they described it as very sudden and not at all progressive.

Interesting why it's been a near Global recall since August and only now a recall in UK, considering it affects the brakes.

Guess it is down to higher number of cars here, and restocking the parts before the recall.

There is also a recall for fuel leak issue on VOSA, see my above link. Which affects newer model years

View,

it's worth getting checked out if you've noticed something. I've been watching out for it since the international recall in August. And to be honest I haven't noticed anthing yet, touch wood.

I'm going to approach my Dealer as I need some other things looked at, before waiting to be notified of the recall.

Would be interested to see how long it takes to be notified through the proper channels. Whistle

Hi mine is a 57 tdv6 sport and as I was passing the dealer monday, and went into discuss a warranty problem
with the tailglass not opening, while I was there the nice gent told me that I am due a letter in relation to
2 recalls, he didn't really ellaborate on them at the time but suggested I get in first as they were going to be busy and that the tailglass would be fixed while it was in, it is fixed now but one of the recalls took six hours alone so I had dropped it in on wednesday and got it back yesterday still not really aware of what they did
as had picked it up between meetings and alot on. But was somewhat surprised to pick up car without the usual
this needed doing while we have it and managed to pick it up with only a thanks and a hand shake from Jamie
a very helpful fellow at Guy Salmon Sheffield first class. Thumbs Up
