iPhone - what am I doing wrong ?

Recently joined the 21st Century and got an iPhone 3Gs. Great bit of kit for all the tricks it can do - but I am finding it badly lets me down at its main task of being a phone. It doesn't get a signal where my previous phone (N95) had no problems, and when driving it frequently drops the call due to losing the signal every 3 minutes or so. My few remaining head hairs are at serious risk of being pulled out.

Am I doing something wrong or are iPhones actually pants as phones ? RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

I had one of the earlier 3G iPhones and I found that calls were dropping when I was roaming between 3G and GPRS networks. I got rid of the phone and bought a blackberry bold and it's excellent.

After I got rid of the iPhone I was told that there was an updated firmware which handled roaming calls between networks. This might be your problem? Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

Had 2g, 3g and now have a 3gs and all have been perfect! Ask for another SIM to be sent to you as I understand worn contact on the SIM can affect the reception, and perhaps the SIM carrier on the iPhone isn't as efficient.
