South Africa 2007 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Chawton White

James, could you tell us if the dynamic stability control system underwent a redesign for MY2010, and were your technicians able to spot any difference between the pre-2010 MY system and that of the MY2010 vehicles? Do you have any hope that this problem has been fixed and that the noise ranger is experiencing , is hopefully not the dreaded knocking noise we all know?
I still have to report back in the knocking noise thread about my vehicle, but the day after boasting on that thread that my vehicle's knocking had been fixed, it returned - worse then ever. Since then, the vehicle went back to the dealer twice. First time, no improvement, second time (today), they managed to quiet it down once again. At this moment, the knocking is gone again. After the previous "fix", it returned in less than 1000km. The bad news is that the workshop manager admitted to me this afternoon when picking up the RRS that from what he can see, the replacement parts don't differ from the original ones, so there is no hope that any fix will be permanent. Amazing that a class action lawsuit has not been filed against Land Rover - not even in the USA (at least not as far as I know). And yes, I agree, if the knocking noise is still a "characteristic" of the vehicle, I'll be looking elsewhere, even though I otherwise really like the vehicle. The knocking simply overwhelms any other positive points and totally destroys enjoyment of ownership - especially when one is reminded of the vehicles initial purchase price. I truly hope that it is not a matter of the RRS being such a good seller for Land Rover that they simply don't care to fix issues like this. If that is the case, they deserve to be on the receiving end of a class action lawsuit. 2010 Sport Supercharged with all options apart from TV and Extended leather (wish I had the latter) (Previously 2007 RRS S/C)

I have no idea what modifications (if any) have been made to the DR on 2010my however the suspension in general is quite different to that of the pre-2010 vehicles. As mentioned, we've not had any customers mentioning it so far on 2010my.

With regard to your vehicle, it depends on what work has been carried out by your dealer. Different dealers will have tried different things to reduce the noise, however I am led to believe that in general it returns after a while (obviously a short while in your case).

As you can appreciate, it is a difficult topic for me to comment on.

James Thumbs Up

There's a thread on disco3 where it is claimed that cars with 'assembly problems' and others not up to retail standards were released into the system. This is what it says:

Quote:
Apart from the cameras, what about the large number of pre-production vehicles that were released into the dealer system without being checked to ensure that they all met "retail" standards, and had to be quarantined as a result....did anyone here buy one of those? What about the software issues that LR is already aware of, but for the moment is not in a position to do anything about, and is working on a fix? What about the 2,000 plus vehicles that may have an assembly fault, resulting in the vehicle entering "limp home" mode? And there's more....
..

and: (this relates to the tdv6, so not D4 specific)

Quote:
Make sure your dealer is aware of UPS (Update Prior to Sale) notice 3309-1, and that this issue does not affect your vehicle. It is VIN range specific, so can be easily checked and equally easily rectified. It relates to incorrect assembly of part of the air intake on the throttle body.

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black

I got Winger on the D3 site to check my VIN against the pre-production cars and also those with the throttle body assembly fault. Pleased to say. my car was made along time after these batches.

'.....the final RRS VIN number in the affected range is LS214041.' For pre-production cars. 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE

horrible to hear this.

I've done about 600 miles in my MY10 and apart from it having a far firmer ride than I remembered from my last RRS it's been perfect. no clunking at all.

I've bought about 5 over the years from my dealer and if anything like this appears on this new one it'll be abandoned on the forecourt and I'll hire students to picket the place with billboards and hoodies until it's fixed.

don't fanny about. go in and raise hell. loudly. in the showroom.

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Theres always a possibility with purchasing new model engine cars, gearbox software etc. I am sure it will be fixed but i doubt this will be the last, i dread to think what the 5.0S/C will behave once its out in the real world. Only time will tell and i hope for you this is the last of any problems Thumbs Up
