Mayrhofen Accommodation Advice

As title really

Planning on going to Mayrhofen in Jan 2010 (27th till 31st) with around 10 lads snowbaording

First time to this resort so advice on accommodations, Bed& breakfast, would greatly be appreciated if anybodys been.

Any ones to look out for that are good and obviously bad ones to avoid

Locations would be close to lifts, gondolas and within easy reach of a beer or ten on a night too

General advice or reviews on snowboarding areas

Cheers

Nick

Nick,

I've been and its a great place.......can't remember where I stayed though Embarassed

Not that you'd want to know, it was a sh*thole, I was 18 at the time with a group of friends, they didnt even have a fridge, we had an ingenious method of keeping beers cold, tie string to them, throw them out of the window into the deep snow and reel them in Thumbs Up some froze though Big Cry

I'm off to Meribel in Jan Mr. Green

just fancy some place a little different than the normal fly to geneva then morzine/chamnoix we have nbeen to for the last god knows how many years

easyjet Flights to Munich from Manchester are not good though 5pm flight out then 9pm coming back (don't mind return been late as you get an extra day on the slope), but i suppose its still 4 days on the snowboard

Lufthansa fly from manchester first thing in the morning, but they just told me on the phone that if your boards longer than 1.4m they will charge 70euro each way Rolling Eyes

Mayrhofen is out the window as they don't do short breaks

For a group of lads on a ski/board trip you will not get much better than Saalbach Hinterglemm.

I'm sick to the back teeth of the usual France trip as well and Morzine/Avoriaz/Val D'Isere/ is getting old now.

Saalbach Hinterglemm is by far the best of the Austrian resorts I have sampled. They have the gold cup runs there for a good test of the legs and you can easily find yourself rolling in at 6-7 in the morning and having to take a "hair of the dog" breakfast at the top of the mountain.

The apres ski is, well, its absolutely mental. None of the poncy french sitting around drinking wine and reflecting on your best run of the day. These guys are up on the bar at 4pm getting trollied and dancing!

if you want something a little different ... thats my recommendation.

I'll look in to it

I have sent out over 20 emails and only got 3 back and there offers were in the middle of nowhere

problem is that it seems to be geared towards 7 day trips and our group is split into 7 or 4 days due to peoples jobs

the lad who came up with Meribel, his partner friend owns the chalet and standard rate is £1600 for the two appartments that sleep 10, he's seeing if there's a mate rate to be had and we are better placed for the different airports too fir getting there

IIRC it's in the Les Aurell area of Meribel and seems well connect to get on the slopes

I was told about www.tiscover.com for austria and was wondering if there was a similar site for France
