Best Insurance Co for my TDV8

Folks

I am renewing insurance on my car - TDV8 57. I am with direct line who were £500 ish for last year but have gone up by 22.5% this year - granted I have an SP30 but this all seems extreme - full no claims, no claims protected.

Anyone got any ideas??

Many thanks

Try Land Rover Insurance, I pay £357 which includes offroad use and offroad recovery, anything you put on the roofrack, anything you tow behind and unlimited Continental use. I also have an 81 year old named driver on mine. Miles are limited to 12000pa and I have £500 excess. I also insure my Def 90 through them for the same policy for £190 pa. I am 52 with a clean licenceand live in an area/postcode with exceptionally low crime rate. My 90's premium went down by 50% this year and I expect the RRS to fall by a similar amount in March as LRI have recategorised my employment situation into a lower risk group. Details from your Land Rover Dealer or call

As much as I can't stand the advert, I found Swiftcover was the cheapest for the wife and I. She is registered as the main driver and has 5 years NCB bonus, 33 and only held a licence (as she's from the US) in the UK for 5 years. Just over £550. If I had it on my policy, it would have been cheaper but already have my NCB tied up on my M3. Very simple process and the options on line were very straightforward.

One other thing to take into account is that with LRI your car will be repaired at an LR approved place with genuine LR parts (if that really counts for anything with some of the stories we hear on here about some LR service outlets!) 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

OK - haven't gone back to Direct Line yet but - LR Insurance was £1188, AVIVA was £597 and SWIFT cover was £421. Now I know that Swift are a bit of an unknown in terms of customer service etc but seeing as I have never claimed on a policy in all my years driving ....does it really matter. The SWIFTCOVER quote before I added on a few extras was £320!!!

How can LR Insurance be so much more? I even suggested that she may have put some details in wrong,.....

Ah well - decision by tomorrow but Swift are looking favourites unless Direct Line can come up trumps!

Thanks for all your input. I would never have considered SWIFT

cheers Jaguar XKR Convertible

Did you try Tesco? Not joking but they are usually very competitive. I cannot understand why you are being asked for so much from LRI, unless you are a "young" driver and not increasing you excess........ National Farmers Mutual (aka NFM) are also reputed to be very good. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I'm with Swiftcover currently - seem fine to me in terms of service and the application process was a piece of pi** too Thumbs Up How insurers come up with their prices only the wizened world of the actuary knows Rolling Eyes

1st Central Insurance quoted me £495 and I have 9 points. Without the points would have been £364. Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

Thanks to all - Swift got the business in the end - very easy to deal with as all online - even sending proof of ncd which has always historically been a pain when changing insurers - R32 to be insured next - let's see how they do on that one!

Cheers
