Screw in tyre

I have a screw firmly inserted in one of my tyres. Is it best to:-

1. leave it there as the pressure of the tyre doesn't seem to be going down.
2. Replace the tyre.
3. Remove the screw
4. Something else.

Thanks 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I also had a problem like that and the best way would be as ww told you to take it out and seal it in the way that they take out the screw and put a small piece of rubber in the inside of the tire and then press it under pressure where that rubber pcs is also heated so that it melts inside. I was told that after that kind of treatment(20-30 min) the tire is good as new. Hope it helps VA 2008 RRS TDV8 HSE, Java black, Alpaca,.....

Agree with WW, but until you get unscrewed I would keep the speed down in case the screw decides to remove itself. The tyre repair folks will tell you if you need to replace or can repair the tyre. Make sure you are sitting down when they tell you how much a replacement tyres costs................................ a lot will depend on if it is in the middle of the treads or near the sidewall - if it's near the sidewall then you are looking at a new tyre 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

no need to be scared actually.
with the wheel taken off, it's a 1 min job.
(very difficult to go wrong, imho.)

1. penetrate the puncture with the pointy one.
2. put the supplied sticky stuff through the hole in
the other tool and fold in half.
3. put the tool into the puncture and then out again.
(leave small bit left inside to do the seal.)
4. cut out the excess stiky stuff.

fyi, canned ones can get your wheel off-balance, i hear.
so i always do it the dirty way. Laughing
hope it helps. MY08 TDV8 HSE

I'd say as per TIS's post, if it is on the 'flat' face a tyre type can repair and you can reuse. if its near the corner/wall then you'll be looking at a new tyre. You could run with it as it as long as you don't do motorway speeds and do not mind the inconvenience of the problem worsening at the most inconvenient time....

From what i gain from here i'd have thought your pref on a virtually new TDV8 would be repair if poss or take the bullet of a new tyre..... Confused

Unless you can demote your damaged tyre for your spare (is it the same rim size etc...)

I wouldn't DIY fix a tyre on a £50K ish car..... Rolling Eyes

yea if its close to the edge ... new tyre. If its in the middle and you dont want to fork out for a new one a decent tyre place should be able to repair it for ~£10.

I wouldnt recomend driving around with it still in the tyre since under any kind of load it may tear the tyre causing a blowout Shocked , or it might just come out and youll lose pressure quickly and probabl shred the tyre with the amount the RRS weighs. WINNER - 2008 Best All New Photograph
