ACC works by using a radar box on the front of the car, you can see it in gallery pics on the Supercharger models, its in the 'mouth' of the front bumper on the right side.

Basically it throws a beam in front of the car and detects when another car is in your track and can also determine the speed of the car in front. It then applies your brakes to slow you down so that you stay a set distance from it, which you set via the buttons on the steering wheel.

Although it's a good toy I have found it to be irritating at times as it picks up vehicles not in your lane but to the left of the car, such as Artic' lorries going MUCH slower, the car then JAMS on the brakes for 'no reason'. I wish there was the opportunity to switch off the ACC and just have normal cruise. I think you are not missing much. L319 D4 HSE

I think in some regions/countries, generating the radar signal is illegal. So, that's why it may not be offered. It may need to be "approved" first.

Guys I want you to be sure is 180 km/hr or less..it's important to me
sample: just speed up and set your cruise at your high speed for just say 2 min Laughing I will not pay your radars bill

All Adaptive Cruise Control implementations I've seen are limited to 180 km/h -- so I expect LR vehicles to be the same. For non-ACC vehicles, I have no idea if it's limited. I haven't tested it. Cool
