DSC...

So, we had some snowy days here in Lugano, and since my Contis are worn, sometimes driving in snow wasn't really easy. Terrain Response on snow and shifting to low range gears was ok, but then I recall the manual saying something about the DSC on slippery ground...

What's exactly the DSC and what it does?
Is it a good idea turning it off while driving in snow?
Thanks! Thumbs Up

I would say that is when you want DSC. You can't turn it completely off anyway. It detects if the car gets out of shape and backs off the throttle and gently brakes bringing the car under control. The only time I switch it off is muddy conditions off road Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate

Works in high or low ratio. It depends on what the ground is like as to which ratio you might choose. If it is easy gravel type tracks then high would be fine, wet grass on an incline then low would be better. HTH Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate

The brave men do not need winter tyres or DSC! Cool

But then, it is not too impressive since the RRS is a very big, heavy and safe car. Drive in the snow with summer tyres in an original 60ies Porsche Carrera RS and I will be impressed! Why using low range Question

Downhill the car was going quite fast, and every time I touched the brake, it was sliding around... With low gears, the car was going slower and was basically gently braking by itself every time I lift the foot off the pedal, resulting in a much more safer stop...
