Been a while since last post but still look in occasionaly....

Does anyone have any experience of the thieving Bus Gate scheme in Oxford town centre. Received a PCN at the start of the year which has now gone to the adjudicator. Basicaly drove into bus zone, u turned and left to find alternative route. However the Hight Street is not signed as a bus lane hence the appeal !

Anyone else been done in High Street, Oxford ? MY10 TDV6 HSE, Alaska White, Ebony with Contrast, Park Heat, Paddle Shift, Privacy, Heated Steering Wheel, Extended & Premium Leather,

Every day

I'm afraid Oxford High Street is posted with No Entry car/motorbike signs Circular red border and black symbols on white back ground about 15 feet off the ground at either end of the street. It is a restricted zone between 7am and 6pm I think (But not sure on the times so don't quote me ). Cameras installed at either end.

I suppose technically speaking unless you are on a cycle or in a bus or a taxi then you shouldn't be there, cos it say No Entry at numerous points along the High Street at either end before you get to the restricted area and also tells you to do a U turn and provides the area to do it in. Enforced by the Council. But good luck.

Restricted times are 7.30am to 6.30pm daily. Outside of these times it's open to everyone. TDV6 - gone

The ticket is for being in a bus lane but there are no signs for 'bus lane'. I agree should not have entered but I u turned round the sign and found an alternative route.

I hate to say this, but It's a bus lane because the only vehicles allowed through the No Entry car/motorbike signs are buses,taxis and cycles.
Don't worry you won't be on your own in Court, if they don't tear it up and bin it as too much hard work I should think half the visitors to Oxford get a ticket.......  TDV6 - gone

Appeal result came through this morning and Council lost. The Council have no power to enforce the Bus Gate in high street, Oxford.

Just wonder how many tickets have been issued for the same offence and the unsuspecting motorists who have just paid up without arguing??!!

Will be contacting local press on Tuesday, this appeared in Oxford Mail back in 2008 ! looks like the Council have mdae a small fortune from it..

Interesting......I'm sure the Oxford Mail will print your story and thousands will appreciate it. Will be interesting to see if anyone gets a refund.

As for me none of the restrictions affect me.
