Maybe yet another sorry tale of dreadful management (and very poor work from the workers?) from a British Car manufacturer will see us in the same predicament as owners of MGFs and Rover 400s.

If as all reports suggest they are in the sh*t then they really are not in a position to make demands, if the goverment want a say in the running of the company then so be it, i think there are a few people in high positions at LR that should get their heads out of their arses and think of the company and not their own ego's. |

The XF is selling quite well and as for the old fashioned XJ, wait for the new model.

From the reports they are asking for loan guarantees rather than direct government cash injection or support, yet the Govt are requesting a position on the board, a say in the overall company and every decision made which will make it totally impractical to run etc. Looking at how Tony's legion have totally f'd the country, why would you let them loose in any form of industry management..an even bigger recipe for disaster Another Pommie Bar Steward down under MY20 Defender 110 SE P400 Eiger/Ebony MY10 3.0 RRS TDv6 Fuji/Ebony/Anigre |

I don't pretend to understand all this finance lark, but I'm surprised that Tata aren't stepping up to the mark as JLR's owner and providing some sort of support. They seem to just be standing back and letting it take its course

Tata have been branching out into many areas of business, including heavy industry, manufacturing, BPO, IT etc, most probably over stretched and like a lot of companies cannot find the credit lines that was around 6 months ago to sustain the level of investment for R&D and future development. The banks have severely reduced lending, that is why the markets are stagnant, no credit, no investment, everyone goes into gazing at the navels Another Pommie Bar Steward down under MY20 Defender 110 SE P400 Eiger/Ebony MY10 3.0 RRS TDv6 Fuji/Ebony/Anigre |

yea this is what i keep telling people. There not asking for free money or a bail out. They just need to know that loans will be available for them to function (and make there profits). Considering there not 'in the sh*t' this should be an easy goverment decision but instead there trying to take the and get themselves say over a company which will definately lead to stupid biased decisions being made. If i was tata id move all the uk factories to india and see how they like that..... but no bank is going to give them credit to do that WINNER - 2008 Best All New Photograph WINNER - 2009 Best All New Photograph |

Not a chance - it is negotiation and posturing. And in the case it goes bust, I think there will be a good chance someone else will buy it... if not, maybe I will!! RRS 3.6 TDV8 HSE - getting started, hopefully! |

Tata have already invested hundreds of millions of £'s in Jaguar and Land Rover. Including money to keep several large suppliers afloat during these hard times.
