RRS standing still

Hi,

Due to a "discussion" (which I lost) between the Swiss polizei and I, I am having to leave my RRS standing still the next couple of months Big Cry

Now, I will leave it in my carport, and I wonder what (if any) steps I should do to not run into any "standing still" problems? Should I run the engine for 5 minutes every week, do I need to ask someone to take it for a spin every so often... Anything I need to consider?

Bob...that was some loss if all you did was lose a discussion.

However, I think it'd be advisable to give the car a run here and there to stop the mechanicals from seizing up. Also, talk here about the compressor being left in normal height mode is a no no....so make sure you don't.

Well, they felt 80km/h was way too fast in a 50km/h zone, and I felt it was no more than a ticket. They won the argument - that RRS can accelerate.

OK, so I should get someone to run it a bit every so often. What do you mean with the compressor? Should I not leave it in normal mode? And if not, then should I leave it in "easy access" mode?

Never discuss with the Swiss Polizei Wink
Just came back from a 3 month trip, I left the RRS in access position, started right away with no light or other fault messages. Probably would be a good idea to move the car from time to time, just to avoid the tires getting flat spots. '08 RRS TDV8

Mine was parked up for 2 months last year when I was grounded with a back injury.

Lock it down into access mode and it will be ok.

I didn't touch mine for 2 months and so apart from the Dealer feeling sorry for me and taking it out one day for a full foc valet it didn't move. TDV6 - gone

Hire one or more of your friends as chauffeurs from time to time, and have them drive you around town sitting in the back.

Assuming Euroland and Switzerland have not put in cross border driving bans yet as part of the Brussels empire expansion Question Question If not, get a mate to drive it to the Border and then have a blast on the Autobahns yourself Whistle Thumbs Up Good way of giving it a regular clean out and testing the systems, far more enjoyable than just leaving it locked down in access mode Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Except, the Swiss have confiscated my Swiss license, and OK, I have my Greenlandic license still, but it would be a major problem if I had an accident and needed insurance help:(

i remember reading in the manual for you to inflate tyres to maximum psi (on the sidewall) to avoid flat spots while parked up for long periods of time. Also a warning do not drive it while at this psi. Obviously Wink. WINNER - 2008 Best All New Photograph

Roll the car a 1/4 turn on the wheels every week or so if not using axle stands to reduce the risk of tyres de-laminating and blowing out at high speed first time you use it...

Don't ask me how I know about this Shocked

If you have to leave the vehicle standing for a long period I would suggest you inflate the tyres to 60psi. This will ensure against tyre flat spots, but as mentioned above remember to lower the pressures again before driving.

It may also pay to disconnect the battery to avoid any problems that a low battery voltage may cause later. Speak to your dealer before doing this as disconnecting the battery whilst any of the electronic systems are still live will cause all sorts of problems later. IIRC you have to leave the vehicle for at least two minutes after removing the keys to ensure all the systems have shutdown properly. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Thus far (1 month) I have been running the engine for 5 minutes every weekend. I haven't been rolling the tires, but I will on Saturday. Perhaps I will even get a friend to drive it around for 30 minutes. I need the garage to pick it up sometime anyway, to change from winter tires to summer ones.

It hurts having that nice kit sitting in the carport without being able to run it Crying or Very sad
