High Mileage

hi all

been on the look out for a RRS for a bit now, two slipped through my fingers, but to be honest i dont really believe that the dealers selling them even had them to sell. their websites stated that the cars were coming into stock soon, the price was really good, maybe too good. when i phoned to ask about the details both dealers said that they were already sold!

anyway, i keep going through the classifieds but i cant help noticing that most RRS have high mileage for their age. i've even seen a 2008 with 55,000 miles.

the rule of thumb was always to take 10,000 per 1 year of a cars age, so if a car was 3 years old you should expect it to have around 30,000 give or take. but with the RRS i've seen cars that should have about 15,000 miles but actually have more like 30,000 which is pretty high for a car that is only a year old.

so it looks like its going to be very difficult for me to find a low mileage 2007 RRS Sad

Just think about why you want a low mileage car?

A high mileage commuter car may be a much better buy than a 'family abused' low mileage one!!

If you get a high mileage car at the right price with a good warranty to boot then who cares Smile

i see wot you mean, but i always get fed up wen it comes time to sell and if you trade it in the dealer always, always says "oooh the mileage is pretty high, i won't be able to offer you much coz of the mileage"

but you're right maybe i should look at higher mileage cars, thanks

High mileage is all relative. If you pay less now then you should expect to get less at trade in. Modern cars, expecially ones made as well as these, should be expected to do galactic mileage without problem.

The sport has only been around for 4 years so it's still a bit early to tell, but there are some starship mileages being done in the full fat range rover. I've seen some with 270k+ and still running on the original engine and box.

With an unlimited mileage warranty, high mileage is nothing to be scared of as long as your ready for the price cut at trade in! Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

My main concerns with a high mileage RRS vs say a BMW or Merc is the relative quality.

I know from personal experience that our 3 and a bit year old HSE has developed a few rattles etc after just 32k miles.... Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Does anybody really do 10,000 miles per annum. I mean aside from your school run brigade who do 3,000 per annum each?

What is the point of having a car if you don't drive it?

I'm a 25K-27K per year driver. Always buy new every 3 to 4 years - suffer depreciation, but hey, life's a bitch. I've been mad for flipping years, absolutely years, over the edge for yonks.

My old RRS was a relatively low mileage for it's age but I wouldn't have bought it 2nd hand! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
