My 06 HST is currently at the garage having the front diff' replaced ( ), under warranty thankfully. Whilst it's there I asked them to (a) chase up the problem I reported after 2 months or ownership with the Stormer alloys pitting, (b) fix the PDC fault, and (c) upgrade the software for Nav on the Move.

They have just phoned me to say the software upgrade alone is £376.

Doesn't sound right to me, nor does it equate to the price they quoted 2 months ago, nor the costs posted here. I'm waiting for a call back from another LR garage just to confirm.

Has anyone here been asked this much? 

Given the software upgrade consists of inserting a new DVD, I'd say they were taking the pi**.

Just had the call from another LR dealer; quoted me £95 (+ VAT) so guess where it's going? 

Just buy an updated NAV disc. The £95 might be to stick a new NAV disc in, let it upgrade (and that is automatic), then put your disc back in.

I bought the latest Sat Nav DVD for my RRS on ebay (used) for £60. New it's much more. Maybe £150.
But to pay £95 and not have the latest maps, thats a con too. 2022 P440e AB

I bought and use the latest Nav disk, but that reflashes the firmware which disables the hack so Nav on the Move is not possible unless you upgrade the software. 

Hmm, that is not my understanding of it at all....

NAV on the move, as far as I understand, provides limited button pushing options whilst the car is in motion. Previously, one needed a hack for that. Maybe, there is more functionality to the hack, versus the firmware upgrade you get on the disc? or

I believe Navigation on the Move enables all functionality. There has always been limited functionality (such as the destination/home button, search condition, re-route) and the old hack code, which no-longer works following the latest Nav disk install, enabled all (such as postcode entry and retuning the blasted TMC ).

The current system in the FFRR has Nav on the Move, and all buttons are active.

I'll let you know after I'm 100 quid lighter in pocket.

Mine's an 06 car and don't think it's on 07 model. Most of the Sat Nav functions greyed-out on moving - only the Destination/Home button, route search condition, and re-route functions were enabled. The 1791 coded worked to enable all functions whilst on the move.

This year I upgraded the sat nav DVD, which I assume upgraded some firmware, and this has of course disabled the 1791 hack. The functionality is identical to previously - most functions grey-out on moving.

I had assumed that "Nav on the move" allows one to 'enter new routes/postcodes etc whilst the car is moving', and other posts have talked about the only way to upgrade the software is through the dealer's diagnostic system which takes over 1 hour to download (some posts talk about 3 hours - indeed that's where my dealer got the ridiculous 370 quid from as they were charging for 3 man hours ). This is more than the DVD swap, surely.

And how is the FFRR sat nav system different? Looks pretty damn similar to me.

Customers may request the ability to be able to set navigation system destinations or way points whilst the vehicle is in motion. This feature may, as a customer chargeable enhancement, be enabled by following the Service Instruction below.

This enhancement is available to customers on a request only basis. Warranty Claims may not be submitted for this enhancement; this is a customer payable upgrade. Customers must be advised of the warning message on the navigation system which is displayed each time the system is operated and that they are responsible for ensuring they understand the message displayed. The customer's request must be clearly stated on both the repair order and any invoice and it must be clearly identified that this upgrade has been completed at the customer's request.

Service Instruction
NOTE: The Authorized Repairer must check the vehicle specification on DDW to work out which modules potentially need updating.

1 . CAUTION: This procedure requires IDS DVD105 Patch File 6 software or later.

Connect an approved battery charger/power supply to the vehicle.
2 . Connect IDS to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session, by entering the correct VIN for the current vehicle.
3 . Follow the IDS prompts to read the vehicle configuration.
4 . When prompted 'Do you wish to read diagnostic trouble codes?' select 'NO' and then press 'tick' to continue.
5 . When the 'Content Model' is displayed select 'Vehicle Configuration' tab.
6 . From the 'Vehicle Configuration menu' select from the menu 'Special Applications'.
7 . From the 'Special Applications' menu select 'Network Integrity Test'.
8 . From the 'Network Integrity Test' read out record all software versions.
9 . Then from the 'Vehicle Configuration menu' select from the menu 'Module Programming'.
10 . Select from the menu 'Configure existing modules'.
11 . From the menu select 'Audio Front Control Module' (if installed) from the drop down menu press 'tick' to continue.
12 . Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.

Assuming this is what they'll do, does line 15 mean they'll update the Bluetooth software too? Hope so.  

Interesting. I had always thought that the nav on the go upgrade for pre-07 cars included both a firmware and software upgrade (in the form of an updated DVD and the TSB above) - but I remember having a conversation on here some months ago where I was convinced otherwise.... so now I'm confused. The TSB clearly does what it says on the tin, but is there a reliance on a new DVD also being required to support the new version of the firmware?
