Dealership Quote

Hi guys,

I had my car in for a service a few weeks ago and the dealer said the front dynamic bar is leaking. I have been out the country since so not had the time to sort it or look into it yet, but I get back next week and need it done. The dealership that serviced the car quoted the following:

"The front hydra bushes repair for the knocking is £559.84 - Parts £113.44(may require complete arms)Labour £446.40.

The anti roll bar bushes £311.65 - Parts £88.45, Labour 223.20.

The Dynamic bar £1686.70 = Parts £1240.30 Labour £446.40."

I have a Secure Care policy through Warranty Direct and if they cover it I think I will just take it to the dealers as I will only have to pay a fraction of that. Although having just been stung on the turbos/engine problem by them I do not have great faith in them.

Does anyone know if the dynamic bar is covered by them? I've searched through the previous posts on here on them but I cannot decide what it falls under?

Policy booklet states: "Steering: Column shaft & tilt mechanism & couplings, hydraulic pumps & reservoir & pressure pipes, steering & idler boxes, rack and pinion assembly (including hydraulic rams and electric motors) and track rods & track rod ends

Suspension: Wheel bearings

Transmission: Constant velocity joints, crown wheels & pinions, differential gears & thrust washers, external drive shafts, internal bushes and bearings (including wheel bearings) & shafts, internal parts of differential locking mechanisms, prop shafts & prop shaft couplings & central bearings and universal joints.

Doesn't look like it covers anything on your list. The anti-roll bar is suspension and they only cover the wheel bearings (which are relatively cheap anyway).

Looks like you need to find a decent indie with realistic labour charges. Dealership rates could bankrupt a small country. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Got your PM. Will get parts prices later this evening Thumbs Up

Just highlighting the above for reference...

A new ARC bar comes with new bushes, and obviously they will be unbolted when replacing the bar. I do hope the dealer in question made you aware of this, and would not charge you extra for replacing the bushes...
