A LR specialist put the Sport through a full warranty check yesterday in order to provide me a list of ills to take to the dealer prior to the warranty expiring on the 29th of the month. 2 problems found:

Tim yes. I was a whisper away in trading it in for a brand new TDv8 MY09 in Zermatt again (only colour avail at the time) about 6 weeks ago, but with the new house build this year... and the projected costs higher than anticipated |

The problem being the MOT covers road worthiness, and not all the issues you would want a check list against in terms of broader issues with the vehicle. In Australia, as it is a new car, i do not need to get the equivalent of the MOT for 5 years, therefore there is certainly a gap there. If you have an independent nearby that truely know the marque, i would recommend it may be worth throwing some money at them to do at least an inspection. In Australia the NRMA (AA) also provide this service, do the AA or RAC ? I know i paid the AA some years ago to undertake a comprehensive assessment of a Disco for me in the UK, not cheap, but found out it spent half its life on slip ways towing boats in and out.. Could be an option NP, have a chat to the motoring organisations..or an independent. I remember VA had a disaster with a drive shaft just after expiration of the Warranty, i think LR met him half way Cheers Jim Another Pommie Bar Steward down under MY20 Defender 110 SE P400 Eiger/Ebony MY10 3.0 RRS TDv6 Fuji/Ebony/Anigre |

64K question NP, i think it is all down to personal circumstances. i had the LR extended warranty in the UK on my disco's, TDI and TD5, however i was not sure if it could be transferred to a new owner, and it was only valid for a year at a time, to be honest from what i remember it was a pretty crap deal with limits on payment etc. Has this changed in the last 4 years ?? The LR Australia extended warranty is with Allianz, no caps/limits on repairs in general, about 800 Pounds for 3 years/60,000 Km's and transferable, you can also extend the LR assist, so therefore i would say more attractive than the old UK LR warranty, have LR UK improved it ?? do they now have faith in the marque ? The list so far:
Leaky front diff EPB binding Radio, lose volume/speakers on a regular basis Radio buttons faded Rear Hatch, Bottom Lining coming adrift Steering wheel squeaks/rubs when turning (they upgraded the steering rack last time) Driver seat noise when moved forward Front Window lower seal panel faded It is a Dec 05 TDv6 MY06. Does anyone have a definitive list of what else i should ask for to be checked, in particular against tech bulletins for the radio speaker volume loss. Any idea what the minimum engine management firmware should be Just wish to keep my dealer honest on its last check up Thanks Another Pommie Bar Steward down under MY20 Defender 110 SE P400 Eiger/Ebony MY10 3.0 RRS TDv6 Fuji/Ebony/Anigre |
