It's probably one of the cars that get used by Land Rover Assistance when some poor owner's car breaks down. Apart from the fact that it might have been driven by a load of loonies all out to enjoy the performance it shouldn't have been neglected - these cars have to be reliable to earn their keep, I don't see why it should be avoided. Check that it has it's services carried out - it should only have had one service on elapsed time, and IIRC rental companies don't like their cars to rack up big miles so sell them off when they reach something like 10k or 12k miles so it won't even have got to the 2nd service on miles. If you can get hold of the VIN number you can get it's full service and damage history from the main dealer via the LR computerised service record system. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks Tim for the info its nice to see you still on the site. I used to be on in the early days with a tdv6 before i went over to the dark side (bmw). If anyone out there has had one of these cars please let me know what you think.I believe all the reg plates are DA or DE. |

Welcome back 740. I'm on my 2nd RRS but the current one is a TDv8 rather than the v6. There are a few of us on RRS number 2 - VA, Smarticus, Josh and a few others who "upgraded". They are like chalk and cheese. Just driven 320 miles today from Coventry to Stirling on just under half a tank of diesel, admittedly in flat hat mode with the cruise set at 70 for 97% of the way - just a couple of sections of 50mph roadworks to contend with. You will find the TDv8 is the motor the car should have had from the beginning. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Best advice is to focus on the vehicle rather than the previous owner, and sometimes Mr J Bloggs can treat his vehicle far worse than any long term hirer!

LRA is actually one of the big roadside recovery companies under contract and using Land Rover Disco3's as patrol cars. Each Enterprise depot seems to have a selection of LR products as part of the contract (although you aren't guaranteed to get one as a replacement if your car cannot be repaired - some have had Jaguars and others Mondeos, especially if there have been a load of other unfortunate owners) I suppose the cars can be used for renting to paying customers - but they are expensive to rent and the depots are supposed to have LR cars in stock in case of LRA requirements! I would guess that there is a pretty high chance that what you are looking at is an ex LRA reserved car. Does Lancaster have an Enterprise rental depot? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Also why not quiz the supplier direct..... You also have a fair bit of warranty left for piece of mind / protection - what is your main concern re previous ownership??

How do you know what ERAC do with their range rovers? my fear is that it will have been thrashed by every one who hired it to the detriment of the car. Any extra info will be usefull |
