OFF ROAD DAY

Had my off road day at Dunkeld near Perth yesterday. FANTASTIC! Very Happy
It's difficult to talk with a huge grin on your face. I am now in awe of my car. The instructor ,Colin, was terrific, very enthusiastic. Took my dad with me and he got to drive too. Now want to go on and do Level1 etc. Very Happy
Has anyone else had their day yet? Rimini Red HSE (D).Gone but not forgotten!

Jason, were they running standard Pirrelli Scorpions on their RRS ? Just interested as the ground conditions in Dunkeld are pretty darn slippery around those big beech trees and any excess slipping could result in car / tree contact (which isn't ideal for either of them !). As Tim has just found out, Pirelli's aren't at all great where there is a thin layer of mud on a firm surface or tree roots for that matter.

Tyres

Hi Smarticus. The instructor said they only changed from road tyres to off road tyres last week. Sorry but I didn't notice the make, however they worked very well. Also saw the 4.4 S/C they have and the G4 Discovey3. Rimini Red HSE (D).Gone but not forgotten!

Thanks Jason. Must admit I think LR Experience should only use vehicles with standard tyres. The danger of using off-road tyres is that drivers get a false sense of what their own vehicle is capable of and when they "try this at home" on road tyres they get horribly stuck, or worse....

Apparently, the Land Rover experience deal ended on the 31st December.
I just scraped in as I collected my car on the 23rd.
However, I haven't heard anything about it yet from LR.

It can, and a lot of people have to call LR to ask where it is like I did, even then it still took them another month to post me the voucher. Shocking. L319 D4 HSE

Didn't know they'd stopped the complimentary scheme now... as I said in my last post - scum! Mad

As an aside, I also did the whole day LRE yesterday at Eastwell Manor (the South East LRE nr Ashford in Kent). Again, brilliant day. Really very soft & muddy under the wheels and there were a couple of routes/obstacles on the course that they were avoiding as conditions were too bad. At the end of the day we found out that two cars had actually been damaged - one with a blown tyre and the other had managed to dip an intake into the water, causing no end of grief.

Fantastic for showing off the abilities of the car though and I have to say that if you are still waiting to book yours go for the whole day. The morning is impressive enough, although quite straightforward and lacking in technical complexity. The afternoon though really boggles the mind at what these cars can do. Suffice it to say the V8 HSE that I took out, came back completely unrecognisable - even the roof was covered in mud. Had a very knowledgeable chap (Don) instructing us (took the wife too) and he dealt very ably with the ongoing screams from the Mrs the vehicle pointed skyward and groundward at various points around the course.

I have to say the V8 (this was a non-SC obviously) is MUCH more responsive than the TDV6 in my car, if a little lacking in low-down torque. I will be very interested to look at the V8 diesel when that comes out. Also, really like the colour combo of the Black/Rhodium interior. Very nice.

Was meaning to take some photos of goings on, but got so caught up in it all that it completely slipped my mind. Shame as we would've got some really good shots, I think.

I have been told by people from LR that the 4.4 SC car that everyone reckons is at Dunkeld is a falacy and is not a SC car, just a 4.4.

Does anyone have any proof it is a SC? Did they run it on the road and hear the SC wind up? Are they sure it's a 4.4 and NOT a 4.2 SC? L319 D4 HSE

My voucher arrived a couple of days ago, but I haven't booked a date or venue yet.

I'm surprised that LR Customer Services are saying that the free Experience is still available to new customers because I was shown a letter from them to the dealer saying that it will not be available on cars delivered after the 31st December Confused
