Unidirectional tyres

How do you know if your tyres are unidirectional? ie if the tread has to be running in a certain direction to be effective at throwing out water and retaining efficient grip/braking? While I think my tyre shop guys are pretty switched on I want to know they have got the wheels on facing in the right direction!

I ask because if the current warm spell continues I'll have to think about replacing my 19" Wheels and Pirelli Snow & Ice tyres with the standard 20's before heading off on a 1000 mile round trip to London and the tropical regions of the South East of England with all their sunshine........................... well it looks like the temperatures are going to remain above 7C for at least the next 10 days and Pirelli doesn't recommend their use in temperatures above 7C 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I thought so too, but am checking - I realise that the tread pattern also gives a lot away. I don't know if Pirelli Asymetrico's are uni-directional. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

If the tyres are meant to be mounted for rotation in a specific direction they will state the direction on the side wall - the same goes for the which side of the tyre faces outer on the wheel. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

an arrow at the top of the tyre when the tyre is in the mounted position usualy gives the direction of rotation. Some manufacturers rather than using a "normal" arrow mould an arrow shaped design into the tyre wall - some of these designs can be quite confusing - confusing swirly designs - only way of knowing its an arrow is if they have a pointy end!

I'm leaving it to the tyre guys I use, I'll get them to show me - I think the Pirelli Scorpion Assymetricos aren't unidirectional as I haven't been able to find any arrow on them. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
