Is there a definitive iPod thread?

Hi

Im curious about ipod integration for the RRS, especially MY 8.5/9

Theres a whole heap of threads here but none tell me exactly what Im looking for

The wish list is as follows:

Phone connected to cars controls which can be used to control ipod volume, track selection etc
Above preferably in conjunction with info appearing on cars display so ipod can be hidden
Ipod safely stashed away somewhere eg glovebox or under seat
Decent sound quality
Preferably not an FM transmitter
Works with ipod touch

Price flexible
Happy to pay for a nice discrete installation, definitely dont want something running on batteries blutacked to the dashboard

Ideally I want what BMW/Audi offer as standard but there you go Smile

EDIT:

Or if the above is a moon on a stick scenario then presumably there are heaps of generic cables to attach to the 'Apple' connector to the Aux and I just need to take the ipod with me when I leave the car?

My main aim is something hassle free without a spaghetti mess of wires and cables

LR system is hidden in the glove box, so no cables visible. Whether or not you can control it from the radio I don't know. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Just buy a 3.5mm jackplug male both ends cable from Tesco for £8 (bigger outlets only). Fits the aux socket at the rear of the cubby box and plugs straight into ipod. Ipod plays really well through the car's stereo and volume control on car works. Still need to use the Ipods own controls for other things though. RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

IIRC it is at the back of the cubby box, near to the rear seat heater controls and the rear ashtray/ciggy lighter. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Or you could buy two 3.5mm plugs, 1 metre cable and make it. It will cost you about 0.50 pounds Cool RANGE ROVER, MORE THAN A CAR, LESS THAN A KITKAT

If money's truly flexible, call nav-TV. They have a combo Nav-TV/Alpine module that integrates the iPod into the touchscreen, see thread here: http://rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic12998.html
