RHD lights - possible to reverse to LHD?

Hi,

Recently bought a 2006 RRS in the UK. (Couldn't resist as they're about half the price of a EU car). So erhm, sorry for the "newbie" questoins Smile

What I would like to know is the following: for the "MOT" equivalent technical control over here, I would need to adapt the lights to "European standard" for the next time I have to go...

This would mean swapping over the lights from the RHD --\__--\__ pattern to the LHD __/--__/-- one.

I know there is a switch to "temporarily" flatten the lights, but is anyone aware if this can be done more permanently (reversing the image as shown above), while keeping the light units, or do I need to order a set of LHD light units for this?

Also, maybe another stupid question: the front lighter doesn't seem to work. Can this be a blown fuse, and if so, which one (and where) would I need to look at? If it isn't the fuse, I think I'll have to order a new socket...

Thanks for the help already Wink

If your car has xenon lights they will probably adjust manually from inside the bonnet to LHD or RHD pattern
(Well my other cars from other marques have anyway)

Yes, there is a switch that "flattens" the directional part... Instead of the --\__--\__ pattern I just get __________ when I flip it over.

But I got the remark that I need to adapt this to EU standard, so I'm trying to find out if this can be done by for example reversing the plate inside the projector of the Xenons....

(With the BMW's I used to have the switch took care of this, and with the TVR it's a matter of turning the mirror a bit...) Can't see that I'd need a whole new head unit for this to be honest...

Other than the expensive way of changing to EU headlights, this is the only option I think..

Did I hear my name getting called??? Whistle
Mine came with LHD headlights and a continental normal pattern ___/ ___/ so it is not an issue for me.
I ordered the car for compliance with Belgian law but to a UK spec level as it was cheaper that way than to buy in Belgium Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

CONTINENTAL LIGHTS

Living in Germany and had a RRS last year. As of 1 Apr 08 they (the authorities) made a change in the law and to drive permanently on flattened beams could result in fines. Basically I was allowed to drive with flattened beam until my next MOT was due which would have been 3 years as the car was new. However, I cannot say that I enjoyed driving on flattened beams in the Winter months - you just do not get the full benefit of the lights. Personally, I would cough up and buy continentals - you will benefit in the long run.

Doin't mind coughing up the money, but was just wondering if it could be done on the existing headlights...

Anyhow, I have until the next MOT (which is due in 2010, thanks to the guy thinking it already has the towing hook). Oh well, positive thinking: I can have the hook and electrics installed same time with the lights.

But first things first, the Tuscan will be ready in a week or 2-3... Can't wait for the supercharged fun Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil
