Val D'Isere ? No its Val D'Wear in the English Alps !

This weather is just getting better and better. Spent today at Weardale Ski Club where the conditions were just about perfect. Had to pinch myself quite regularly as usually conditions this good set you back squillions of Euro in some over priced Alpine ski resport.

Great selection of green, blue & red runs and fantastic off piste. Two pommer lifts with the run from top to bottom being (well feeling) like at least a couple of Km's.

And because you need a 4 wheel drive or at least snow chains to get up to the runs - its not particularly busy. Thumbs Up

Anyone tempted to throw a sickie and go up there this week ?

Will - there are 3 ski areas in the North Pennines - all enjoying great skiing conditions. These are :

Allenheads - a very family friendly spot, but quite a limited ski area and a very rustic feel to it. http://www.ski-allenheads.co.uk/

Yad Moss - a modern pommer lift and full on piste basher make this a well equipped centre. It is on WEstern facing slopes of the pennines and can experience different snow conditions from Allenheads or Weardale depending on where the weather comes from. http://www.yadmoss.co.uk/

And Weardale that the post above is about.

Having tried all three, Weardale gets the best rating from me by some way. It is a very well kept secret, but as I said, you need a 4x4 or chains to get up to it followed by a stiff walk across the fellside, and so I guess a lot of people go to the other 2 sites where acess is easier.

Needless to say, snow conditions now are the best for many years - its sadly very rare for these ski areas to be open at all. RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini
