Prison diary

Its a sobering read and shows how easily things can go badly wrong.

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic...63&i=0

Its a long but compelling read, and I believe the OP would like to share this out to as many drivers as possible, so that we could learn from his mistake ....

From one of the post, a harrowing video...

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Arctic Frost

Wow. Shocked

I've read some of the prison diary by 10 Pence Short before, a very harrowing read. I'm sure most people that have read his diaries have had a quiet moment and thought "There but for the grace of God . . ." We are all guilty of speeding occassionally but this blog really makes everyone sit up and think.

The video clip is really shocking and I for one would not have any complaints if something like this was shown on national TV. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

That's a very good (if that's the word Confused ) collection of video clips. Some of which have been shown on TV here. Some I haven't seen before.

I wonder would it make any difference if it was shown on National TV though. Some of the idiot "racers" I see on the roads, would just laugh at it & say that they were way too good a driver to crash Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad

How do we change the mindset of these tools, that's the question Question

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

As far as a deterrent goes. I dont really see it working. A guy in my area last week got 2 months in jail for an overtaking manuevore that went wrong and he hit a tree killing his own mate and passenger. I think alots to do with the word 'accident'. People dont mean to have them. They just cant drive as well as they think. Even the guy in the above post. 65,000 miles a year of driving for previous 10 years. He still lost the backend round a BLIND corner which he knows he shouldnt have even been close to the limit on let alone fast enough to lose it.

An older guy i knew almost 3 times my age (at the time i was 1Cool told me something about 6 months after i passed my driving test that totally changed my driving. He said he once hit a kid who just jumped out between cars on a side road and the ONLY thing that lets him sleep at night is the fact he was obeying the speed limit and there was nothing within his power that could have changed the outcome other than not being there at that time.

We take driving for granted.... and the longer we go without incident the worse it gets. We need less speed cameras and more (unmarked) police on the roads judging unsafe driving. Luckily as a londoner there so many incidents in a day when i see stupid drivers that im just anticipating people to try and wipe me out Laughing .

...oh and the fact most of my driving is done between 10pm and 6am, so every other car is police officer waiting for me to give them a reason Thumbs Up (most nights they pull me over anyways Rolling Eyes ).

....either way. If what the guy above does by documenting all of this changes even ONE persons driving habits, for the better, im glad. Could mean the difference between life or death for a whole bunch of people.

Alfie.

ps. I wish my dissertation was this easy to write words for Laughing . WINNER - 2008 Best All New Photograph
