2005 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
Rear Windscreen Glass

Some little bu@@er decided to smash my rear windscreen in a respecatble pub car park last night, along with a BMW x5 and a cayenne. Either these were targed as 'nice cars' or the guy seriously has a thing against 4x4's (The BMW is only just falling into that category....) Anyway I rang autoglass to get a quote for replacing the tinted heated rear glass, that was this morning and I am only just recovering £986.44 + VAT. Land Rover insurance is covering it for a £60 excess, but I couldn t believe the price.

Had some challenges las night in the midst of my woes. Land Rover Assistance... Well they couldnt assist, I was 3.5 hours away from home with no rear screen, they could take my car to heathrow (from newbury) and store it overnight I would have to get a cab to heathrow the next day and collect..... there was no courtesy cars available in my area either, and the insurance claim line, regardless of what they say isnt 24 hours... rang and rang and rang. the BMW guy was smiling at me as BMW assist turned up to sort him out.... Wasnt too impresses. Auto Glass havent got the glass in so its facing another night of the elements, they also insist on having a physical copy of your insurance cert to do the work. mine is at home, and that took some effort with LR customer service to get a copy faxed over as well, you would think that was a simple request. Then I have to drive it the 40 miles to the nearest AG dealer for repair and hang around for 3 hours. The nearest slot they could give me for a visit to me was next mon. There is no glass in the car, the entertainement system is on full view, just not overly chuffed with the service from the insurance company or autoglass. I thought you get what you pay for.... I paid over the odd's for the supposed good service, but when I was in need, the service wasnt there..... (Discuss!) Smile

That strikes me as odd as the management of LR Assist and BMW Emergency Service is by the same people - Mondial Confused The only difference is that the BMW-branded service vehicles that come out are franchised into the scheme by dealers who take turns to be on call and are engaged by Mondial when you call in with a problem. I'm not sure if LR have a similar agreement.

Where are you with it all right now?

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

I had to call Land Rover Assist yesterday - a guy in a tow truck arrived! he was unable to do anything on my car. I owned a BMW before the RRS and had to call BMW Assist out twice during my ownership. On both occasions a BMW technician came out with full diagnostic equipment and parts to fix problems roadside. RR Sport TDV6 HSE 07MY Java Black
