United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Cairns Blue

Ive got a prototype here but fitting it is a different matter.
The bolts on the turbo are very hard to come of because of there location.

Im fitting a 4 post ramp in my workshops as we speak so hopefully ill hae it fitted in the new year.
Once fitted ill have made from stainless steel.

Pauly,

I'm sure you cant remove the cats on the petrol engined RRS.
You have sensors before and after the cats.
The engine management will go mental if you remove them BUT....

I'm sure Larini do hi flow cats which improves throttle response while not upsetting the ECU's.

I drove a S/C earlier this year with hi flow larini cats , they do exist.
The larini exhaust was a bit noisy for me but the sound was amazing , I felt a right hooligan Laughing

Good luck
Mart

Sensors... Look into it. I think you will need a sensor, or sensors to trick the other sensors that the cats are there and doing fine...

Hi Fat RRS.

You should have a pre and maybe a post cat lambda sensor (probably called an 02 sensor on your side of the pond)

Look here if you are interested.
http://www.picoauto.com/applications/lambda-sensor.html

The ecu will need constant feedback from all 4 of these , I've never seen any way to "fool" the ecu that you have a cat.

If the ecu doesnt see the 02 sensors you will get an ecu fault light and possibly limp mode also.

Thats quite easy to fool....

The pre cat sensor needs to be left in place (or made to fit the new pipe) and the post cat sensor needs to be connected and securred somewhere firmly inside the engine bay, that way it samples nice clean air and thinks the cat is doing its job.

And after all that the ecu will still inject the correct amount of fuel to what it thinks is keeping the cats temp under 880 and it will massively over fuel instead.

If the ecu does not see a 02 sensor or it sees a fault/out of parameter on a sensor it will resort to run open loop setup and over fuel again.

Or have the sensors turned of in the ecu and disable the catalyst heat management.

This is obviousley in the case of the petrol versions.

Yup, needless to say that Wayne is not allowed to sell his Quicksilver exhausts to anyone but Quicksilver (who then badge them as Quicksilver and adjust the price accordingly).

Anyway the point of my original message was to explain how good the quality of Wayne's work was.

I have full LARINI decats and exhaust in mySC, Pete is 200%!

I have the larini decat pipes, lariniccat back exhaust, and it was too loud, so I added the Arden rear silencers(smallones like the stock ones) and my car dumps fuel like crazy!
I wish there was a way to fix this issue. I feel ashamed to even post how mong my gas tank lasts.
I keeep looking for the headers at a reasonable price, obviously the only ones are from Hamman, that i know of. I should have chosen the sport cats from Larini when they made them!
I bought two sets fo decat pipes and exhaust systems, LARINI IS WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!!!
I own a second RRS SC, which i havent installed the decat pipes or exhaust yet, will definitely hold on until I get better results from my setup.
I will be changing the thermostat next week, iridium spark plugs.
Why wont anyone make a better intercooler, or have air to water intercoller like Arden offers in their beast upgrade?
I am also in need of modifying the cats in my friends 2009 tdv8, thinking of removing them and hollowing them out, no need to reweld a lot then. Cost to replace? A lot!!
Wonder if removing the cats, since this car doesnt have the DPF will make more smoke......
Look forward to Pete's upgrades soon!
Bye amigos

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

When the exhaust went on my Defender 5 years ago I chose not to replace the cat at the same time as it was also corroding. The blanking mod that Pete has posted else was done and the probes also removed - it has run more smoothly and economically ever since. However mine is a 300Tdi and doesn't have the other things like engine management systems etc that more modern engines have so the job was somewhat easier than doing a TDv6/8.
One thing for sure the exhaust folks love taking the old cat off you - it's worth a lot to them in scrap precious metals! Any decent exhaust supplier should be able to make you a non cat section for a TDV6/TDv8 but I wonder what it does for your warranty. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I remember seeing decat pipes from JE.

They offer the decat pipes only for export, they also used to offer performance cats i remember them saying that they caused engine management problems, they have delaer diagnostics equipment but still could not fix the problems with the dash light turning on.
Bottom line is
NO EMISSIONS CONTROL DOWN HERE
THEY DONT COME WITH THE DPF FILTERS 90% OF TIMES.
NOT THAT GOOD DIESEL QUALITY
----CUSTOMERS WANT MOREPOWER!!!----
ALLREADY ECU TUNED, THEY WANT TO GET MORE POWER AND EXHAUST AND DECAT PIPES IS THE WAY.

Lets hope for good results from new products for our tdv6 and tdv8 engines.

See ya
JJB

Sorry to bring up such a old thread, but is there any review for a 3.6 TDV8 about the power gains, sound and smoke? And when combined with a ecu tuning?
