Feature or failure? No seat heating without engine

Hi all,

I'm having my RRS for three weeks now and I really do love her a lot! Thumbs Up Driving her always makes me smile and when I finally have my Stormers it will look absolutely unbelievable good from next week on! Cool

However there is one thing which almost drives me mad:
When I stop for some minutes anywhere and turn out the engine, the seat heating is off. I then try to switch it on again but it won't. So here's my question: On any of my cars before I was able to switch the seat heating on when ignition was on (i.e. step II but engine not started yet), in my RRS the seat only heats up if the engine is running.
Is this normal? Can I change it somehow? Or does the car just have a bug? Question

Thanks a lot. RRS TDV6 HSE, 2006, bonatti grey, ebony interior, rear diff, s/c grille and vents, stormers, privacy, tasmods, iphone integration Wink

I'm sure someone will come along soon with the answer but in the mean time what does the manual say? Whistle Current: I can't say...Oh the Shame!

It makes sense I guess as it must be a drain on the battery.... never tried it - but to be honest rarely used the heated seats Rolling Eyes

@Jonty:
The manual is in the car which unfortunately is not next to me and I want to know now! Wink

I thought so too, but this does not make sense to me at all. Every stupid Golf, even the old Corsa can do this, why not the RRS? Question

Well then the engine will keep on running while I stand outside the stores waiting 20 minutes for Mrs McBunny... Mr. Green RRS TDV6 HSE, 2006, bonatti grey, ebony interior, rear diff, s/c grille and vents, stormers, privacy, tasmods, iphone integration Wink

And the 12V lighter sockets as well don't work with the engine off right?

It'd drain your battery in no time. 10forcash (on D3) does a set up to give you remote seat heater and windscreen for those frosty mornings! Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate

My A4 with a significantly smaller battery could do two heated seats, radio and interior light for three hours with no problem. If the RRS can't they should check the battery management. Evil or Very Mad
How am I supposed to watch movies in the car cinema? Freezing or with the engine running? Shocked Laughing

@Korenai:
I'm not absolutely sure but I think the cigarette lighters work without the engine running. I'll check that tonight. RRS TDV6 HSE, 2006, bonatti grey, ebony interior, rear diff, s/c grille and vents, stormers, privacy, tasmods, iphone integration Wink

@Pelyma:
Yes it has. Cool
But the cock-car had some very clever features, e.g. I did not have to freeze when waiting in a non-running car! Rolling Eyes

Anyway, already sold it and btw an A4 is still better than an A3! Whistle Twisted Evil RRS TDV6 HSE, 2006, bonatti grey, ebony interior, rear diff, s/c grille and vents, stormers, privacy, tasmods, iphone integration Wink

I love my ex-car and nobody is allowed to say anything bad about it. Especially not somebody coming from a country that brought us the Rover 75! Didn't BMW own Rover when they launched the 75? So that would make it a German motor. Laughing Laughing

Before that Rover had the 600 and 800 series but BMW stopped production on both models as they were direct competition for the BMW 3 and 5 series.

The 75 was supposed to be competition for the Jaguar S class. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.
