Even Audi Cabrios need to have the right spec to sell

My brother has just phoned to tell me that he has been looking at replacing his 5 year old Audi A4 Cabrio 3.2 Quattro with Sport pack and light grey/blue metallic with blue hood and 25000 miles on it. He's been to several dealers and the best offer he's had is £14k and the worst £9k.................................. but they all say one thing, and it was what I told him before he bought it........... "It's a manual 3.2, nobody wants them unless they are automatic!" He wasn't expecting that but he was expecting to be told to get lost as nobody is buying used quality motors. Just shows you still have to get the spec right before even a dealer tells you to get lost!!
Last week he sold his 2 year old Aston V8 Vantage to a private buyer and got £70k for it! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

wow, impressive on the aston sale! No surprise on the audi. I personally wont ever go back to a clutch pedal. The more and more new auto systems i try the more than adequate i find them. I was driving an AMV8 the other night which was manual, keeping in mind this car had probably been consistantly raped through all of its 22k miles the manual gearbox did not give me as fun as the sportshift equivalent.

I've gone the other way and parted company with the RRS and gone for a Manual Audi S4 Bow down Bow down Bow down Thumbs Up

No hesitation setting off from standing start or when wanting an instant pick up in speed.

For info Tim picked up an 03 plate S4 with 21K on the clock for £13.5K from an audi dealer. Think your brother did well to get offered £14K Current: I can't say...Oh the Shame!

He's decided to keep the A4 for the time being. He thought the £14k was reasonable too. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

@Jonty:
Ever drove an AUDI with one of those DSGs or S-tronics or whatever they call it in their different models (the double-clutch-thing)?
Mrs. Mc Bunny hat that in her Audi and I have to say that this is absolutely fabulous and way faster than any automatic or manual. Very Happy On the other hand I have to admitt it is quite unpossible to start slowly and comfortable: either you start like a maniac, that's quite impressive Wink , or you try starting normally but then it will feel (and look!) as if you would have a manual and didn't know how to use a clutch! Shocked

Nevertheless in an S4 you will always start fast so it's a brilliant thing and as far as I know, the new S4 models will have it (but I'm not 100% sure on that one).

@XXXAngelXXX:
If you are fed up with yours, I'll take it. You can have the TT instead... Whistle

Answer to McBunny

No, mines just got the common garden clutch.....Still getting used to it so occasionaly gear changes are a bit rough Embarassed Embarassed

Fortunately the cars party piece is pulling away in 6th from 30mph all the way up to the limited top speed so I don't have to change gear that often Thumbs Up Current: I can't say...Oh the Shame!

@Jonty:
So do I. Mrs Mc Bunny was more clever on her car and ordered the DSG. I one the other hand wanted to have that special engine built by quattro with more horsepower than the standard version (but still only the 2.0T) and that was only available with a manual. Sad
But on the other hand you just pull off at the lights in first, then go to 6th at 30 and there it is with full amount of torque from about 40 to 160 mph without changing any gear, that's quite impressive. Very Happy

But still: I should have ordered the auto, I hate manuals (except in a Ferrari due to the insane looks of the manual! Cool ). Big Cry
In a few weeks however this problem will be gone when I will be hopefully, finally driving my RRS - damn, I just can't wait. Twisted Evil
