Looks great in the pics and good article Kam. I didn't like the X6 when it first appeared, but I have to say as I see more on the road I'm getting used to them. I'd like to get into this car reviewing lark too.... I have to write a lot in my job, and it would make a nice change to write about something I'm actually interested in.

United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I took a 24-hour test drive in an X6. 1000 miles on the clock, space grey, fully loaded spec including the heads up thing.

While it was blisteringly fast - and it told me it did 36 mpg in my 24 hours (I drive to and from work usually early in the morning or late in the evening on a long and lonley motorway) ...... it's just not a Range Rover Sport.

Same price (roughly) as a RRS. But most people who saw it hated it. Women and children universally disliked it. The only people who liked it were thirty-something blokes in the office ..... and even they said I'd be mad to choose it over a new RRS. Wife sat in it, but got out quickly and refused to go for a spin. Whereas she coo'ed and grinned like a cheshire cat Cool when in the RRS demonstrator and couldn't wait to get into it at any opportunity.

I suspect it will be BMW's version of the R-Class. Nice car and all that, but won't catch on. Also, the decision to make it a 4-seater will come back to haunt the Bavrians. If it doesn't get deleted, I'll bet they start making 'em with 5 seats in a future model revision.

I placed my order for the RRS a couple of days after the X6 test drive. I'm sure I won't regret it. I've been mad for flipping years, absolutely years, over the edge for yonks.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

And as an aside in these hard times, you are providing work for folks in this country and not for the folks of South Carolina which is where the X6 is built alongside the X5 and soon to join them the X3 I believe. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Yeah basically the same as what we found.. mechanically excellent, and drives superb but looks odd and is a bit pointless! just get an X5 if you want the Bmw thing.. but even that looks crap compared to the RRS!!

Switzerland 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

I've never had an off-road before and my previous cars were a completely different thing (Focus RS and Integra Type-R), so why did I bought a RRS?

Personally, I think it's the mix between vintage and modern. The overall shape is a clear reference to the very first Range Rover back in the days, and it got this british elegance you simply can't find on a BMW/Mercedes/Audi. Generally, SUVs aren't really appreciated among people, you know, they're big, they pollute and so on. But overall, FFRR and RRS are somewhat "respected" a lot more, it's like since they're the first who invented the luxury 4x4, people like them more.
