Looks good in Tangiers Orange and Mud!
At the Land Rover Monthly show at Gaydon in May there was a Range Rover G4 that the owner had rescued the bits from a scrap skip and rebuilt....... it was fantastic, but interestingly when the Wheel Articulation competition was run it didn't have as much as the standard car!
I want a set of those tyres too!

Those tyres are Goodyear Wrangler Mud Terrains specially developed for the G4 Landies. You can buy them on the open market but they are a frightening price and quite difficult to obtain. The local dealer offered me their used set for £250 each in 20" size for the TD6RR I had.
The G4 Range Rovers were all V8 Vogues with lots of toys and underside protection fitted, rollcages and so on. LR sold the cars off after the event..................... as far as I know not one RR was bought, not at £85000 a shot! The D3's and Defender 110s all sold quickly but the Freelanders all hung round as they were the V6 version. LR then launched a special edition G4 Defender which ruined values of the real ones as the special editions looked just like the real thing from the outside but had no kit with them.

The G4 website is here http://www.landroverg4challenge.com/main/cms/cmRender.asp?i=1
And if you are feeling fit you can make an entry for next year's event!

You can download a short video here, it is quite noisey and the cars are all from the 2003 G4, so no Sports in action
http://www.landroverg4challenge.com/main/m...=4&s=1

File size is huge for those on dialup
And there are a few more pics here

Many thanks ! I am quite intrigued that LR is going to use the Sport for the G4 challenge but there you are, they know how to market their products.

As some of you already know I am a determined Discovery man and had all my Discos slightly modified to make them real offroaders. The normal route for me would have been to go for a Disco 3 but I just cannot stand the looks of that car (inside and outside). RRS on the other hand is exactly what I want in a car, but I still had some doubts about the offroad image (much less about it's offroad capabilities, same or even better than Disco 3) of the RRS.

Now having seen those G4 pictures I am on cloud nine.... and who knows I might even make the female happy and sell my current 2003 Discovery once my new RRS has arrived (initial plan was to keep the Disco).

Hans - i have the 4.4 - unfortunately also small and down Rolling Eyes
I am thinking of getting chrome exhaust tips... I am not convinced it's diesel - in fact i would nearly think it's a petrol due to availability of petrol in remote areas v. diesel. - Robert

Historically they have used petrol engines in the G4 Landies except for the Defenders which are not built for any market now with a petrol engine.

With 70cm wading depth on the Sport only the D3's will be able to go into the same water as the Sport. Maybe they are giving it an easy time as a press car!
