Thanks Paul,

Got my brother in law and family over from Clearlake, we hopefully wont have too many issues... likewise if you need a hand let us know.

Fully stocked on food, gas, water and tons of expedition supplies including gas grills etc. As long as the trees don't topple on the house, it should be heavy winds and high waters, but hopefully not much more.

After just getting back from Colorado, I had shifted back to my street tires, but decided to put back on my 18's again this evening just in case we get to drive thru a meter of water!

Watch out for the snakes as they swim down the road, and make sure you've got some insect repellent as the mosquitos will be out in force afterwards.

If you need any assistance Adrian or a place to stay on the north side of town, give me a ring.

Update at 18:35CST ..... we have wind increasing!

The gusts upto 32mph, sky look scary and its not even here yet, Galveston on the coast is at 53mph and flooding badly already. Now they are expecting +110mph winds as the eye has tightened also a possible 22ft storm surge which will flood quite a way inland.... but its the twisters I dont want to see......

Well more to report tomorrow if the power is still up.... here is to a long night !

Well we survived !!!!!

It was really scary around 3am.... it was horrendous Sad .... no power, 70mph winds and so much rain. The windows were moving in and out stuff flying around all over the place... who needs rollercoasters try a Hurricane. Houston is a mess, flooding and debris all over the place but we have only a damaged fence and pool full of branches.

About 30mins ago the power came on so we are very lucky. Thumbs Up

As for staying in Aberdeen, would die of weather boardom, the har and constant gray skies Laughing Brit across the Pond Wink

A, you have to admit though that pavement splitting sunshine and clear blue skies get a bit boring after a while too...................... Glad to hear that all is well with you and the family - any news about Galveston? I used to pass it regularly when we used the Houston Ship Channel up to Barbers Cut. Heard on the news that George W is going to make a tour of inspection of the damage to Houston when the weather has improved! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim,

Galveston got hit hard as did many towns along the ship channel and surrounded area.

One saving grace is the storm surge was not as high as expected it came in at 15ft and the sea wall is 16ft saving Galveston from destruction, but still it looks so bad Rolling Eyes

Downtown Houston also suffered many of the high rise buildings have windows out and offices in a mess, there is also a great deal of flooding in that area.

so we are still here and maybe back to work Monday or in my case on a plane to europe for the week. Brit across the Pond Wink

Glad it's all over.... looks very messy down on the coast though Confused

I wonder why it is that the hurricanes up through the Gulf (which I presume have always arrived every year) seem to be much worse these past couple of years? Or have they always been like this and ended up with little press coverage?

When I was living in Hong Kong in 82 we were hit by Typhoon Ellen. That was pretty scary I saw things flying through the air that shouldn't have been. All the high rise buildings are designed to sway with the wind..weird sensation. At one point I had to go out in it on a search and rescue mission......scared the wotsit out of me.
Afterwards was the worst though......things like a container ship sitting in the street down near the harbour and we were fishing bodies out of the sea for weeks after that one...not very nice. Not to forget all the destruction in the shanty towns where the poorest people live.

The weather has some force which has nothing to do with global warming. TDV6 - gone
