First impressions of Q7 Vs RRS

Firstly, massive thanks to Kam Bow down Bow down Bow down Thumbs Up

So, drove from Brum to the glorious (And doused) NW in the hire car last night.

Have got a silver 56plate Q7 3.0TDi S-Line and I have to say that in the flesh up close I think it's a great looking car from the front and front 3/4 view. Side on still looks a little too long but nice none the less.

Interior quality is where the Q7 wipes the floor with the RRS. The Audi genuinely feels like a £40-£50k car. Makes the RRS feel like a car half the price.

I think the MMI interface will take a bit of time to get used to as at the moment it just feels like a massive distraction when driving.

Engine wise? This is the interesting part as it's a game of two halves. The RRS is MASSIVELY more refined although the Q7 isn't a tractor by any means. However, performance wise the Q7 really can lift its skirt and get a wriggle on.

The Q7 does feel massive compared to RRS and in turn a little less wieldy and manouverable although like with any new car I suspect over the next few days it will start to shrink around me (Literally, as I eat all the long overdue pies Laughing )

So, will update as the days go by but 1st impressions are of a seriously quality, quick car and I will put my stake in the ground now and say it's a great car Thumbs Up Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Yep Q7 is a great car all round, I owned one for just over a year and it's only due to the TDV8 arriving that I went back to LR, that V12 is Censored awsome. I like the MMI, it takes a few days to get the hang of it purely because of how much you can actualy do. Voice control is the best system on the market as well. Speed Limits! not where I live!

i like them - test drove the 4.2 V8 tdi (which would be my Q7 of choice) however due to their length I would prefer the GL420 in that class

It certainly doesn't look or feel anything like a RRS (In other words, a proper off roader!) so it seems Audi didn't WANT to go that route.

Agree Kaine, a 4.2 TDi would be VERY NICE Mr. Green

However, like Shmoogle said a V12 TDi would be off the hook!

It really is a great car and I really like it.

If only LR put an interior like that in the RRS it would be perfect Thumbs Up Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Nice CAR, the Q7. A friend of mine has just bought one and is selling his supercharged RRS. Personally I'll stick with my Muddy RRS. Don't know how good the Q7 would be off-road and I have far too much fun off-road with the sport.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I recently read the Autocar review of the new Q5 vs Freelander2 and in that it was stated that Audi only want to build something that LOOKS like an SUV as that is what people want, they don't generally want full on "get you across the Sahara or the Darien Gap" capablity but they DO want the looks. Interestingly the Q5 beat the F2 on just about every front (they didn't test offroad ability though) and the verdict was still that F2 won, but only just and the only reason they marked it higher was because the Q5 was just so dammed BORING to drive. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
