I know that engine numbers are no longer relevant in the real world but here in the Balkans they still do not accept that an engine is a consumable which can be replaced and they refuse to recognize the VIN as being sufficient. Anyone have an idea where this number can be located? (no "look on the engine" cracks please) I need this to import the car and since no else in europe cares about such things they cannot really be arsed to look. RRS TDV6 (gone)

I wonder if LRCS would give it to you if you were able to supply the VIN and prove you were the owner of the car?

me and you both. I thought long and hard about replacing the TDV6 after the problems I encountered but there was no way I could even consider an X5 (down here a criminal's car), an X6 (awful abortion of a car to look at) and ML Merc (ugly) or the Q7 (a beachced whale). Despite their looks, the german stuff gets nicked at an alarming rate and shipped on to belrarus, ukraine, albania etc. I still think the car is a cracker to look at and the TD V8 engine is a real stonker.
