BT is messing with my head !

Get this, I want to upgrade the phone line in a holiday cottage from "Incoming calls only" to "Full service". Ring BT last friday and explain this to them patiently. They tell me their "systems are down" and they will ring me back. No ring back - so I ring them again on Monday. They tell me their "systems are down" and they can't action any orders, but they can take my details and ring me back. They duly take my details, but no ring back. I ring them on Wednesday, but, you guessed it, their "systems are down". I "loose it" with the poor sod on the phone and tell him what a "shower of Censored " the whole of BT are and how no self respecting sweetie shop would have their "systems down" for almost a week. How they are probably single handedly messing up the UK economy and should take their collective selves for a long walk on a short pier. They promise to ring me back. 24 hours later still no ring back so I ring them to find that their "systems are down".

I had similar experiences with BT when we changed from analogue to digital lines in the office! they thought 2 days down time was 'an acceptable timeframe'... and the joker small providers weren't any better.. glad we've got a half decent supplier of a phone system and phone call service now.. Thanks for the reccomendation MDP!! Thumbs Up

Good luck with getting it sorted by the way.. you'll get there eventually im sure! trouble is, you never remember how painful all of this was after a month or so of getting it done.. till the next time!

Shambolic, but you still have it better than we do.

2Mb broadband for €346.08 (GBP282) per month Shocked Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

No urgency to get it back up and running should it go down

What seems like 1 person for all business customers in the call centre (I always seem to speak to the same guy and there is no noise in the background)

No real choice or competition

However we do get free tin cans and replacement string should the old string break... Rolling Eyes Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

BT seem to be a world unto themselves... how one of the world's largest telcos can afford to have their call centre out of action for so long I don't know. Haven't suffered that from BT, but plenty of other horror stories - the worse of which entailed them suddenly deciding, after an 8 week planning cycle, that they didn't have anyone to move a set of leased circuits for an office move. Suffice to say, some poor traffic light engineer got pulled off the streets to the do the move for us...

I doubt they even have 1G here!

First and foremost, I need a 100% reliable connection for about 120 hours during the week as I connect on a Sunday evening and keep running until 7pm ish Friday night. I also have multiple applications and data feeds running so not sure that would be a viable route, even if it was avalable Confused Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad
