You surely don't need a wheel alignment every 3 months.....your dealer is robbing you Twisted Evil

There are a few sources for the knocking sound - the one they can't fix is caused by the Dynamic Response system.

As this is related to the other post of suspension knocking - thought it might be worth reissuing. If we get the responses as we did previously, I will reissue a poll. Very Happy Thumbs Up L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

I feel bad I have not kept up with things on RRS and missed this. My AR bushes and ball joints have just been done (again) so car is quiet for a while but I am happy to go up to LR for a moan if it is going to happen.

My concern is the car will be out of warranty in 8 months and I don't want to shelling out every 4 months for this additional regular maintenance which I pesume will be expensive .

We need LR to commit to an effective fix.

United States 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Chawton White

Are you guys aware of this Special Service Bulletin? It was released a few days ago:

Quote:
SSM39112
Models: LS - Range Rover Sport
Title: Straight Ahead Knock - Vehicles With Dynamic Response.
Last Modified: 30-OCT-2008 18:02
Category: Chassis
Symptom: 304000 Suspension System

Issue: Low speed knock noise from suspension, on vehicles with dynamic response.

Cause: Front body mount dampers, have been shown to be an important route for this noise. Recent testing has shown that vehicles fitted with dynamic response do not require front body mount dampers. Rear body mount dampers must still be fitted.

Action: Bulletin LTB00123 has now been updated to include the removal of the front body mount dampers if required. Please follow the bulletin and submit an EPQR if the vehicle shows no recognizable change in the noise volume and is perceived unacceptable to the customer following removal of the dampers.

Be aware that dynamic response system noise during low speed side to side maneuvering is covered on TSB LS204-012 (LS204-011 for USA) as a vehicle characteristic.

I have copy of TSBs # LTB000123 and LS204-011 (North America) if anyone would like a copy, PM me your email address.

They allow the body to be attached to the chassis I believe.......or the chassis to something or other. Rolling Eyes L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

Ah..I thought that was the whole idea of the sport so that the body didn't move seperate to the chassis like the good olde LR days when the wheels went round the bend and you got the lean over effect and you wondered if you would make it or not Bow down

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Java Black

My 06 plate RRS HSE TDV6 is in Guy Salmon Ascot being "redone" as I write this. This is the third time the steering knocking noise been done and the same number of tyre replacements in 36k miles.

They are currently replacing the ball joints, rear brakes, ignition key, sub-woofer rattles, passenger door rattles. The two windscreen washers are blocked and the roof-rails "need rebonding" !! Oh, did I mention that the air bag warning light is on too?

It sounds as if my car has been in that Chinook on an air drop mission but no, just normal driving which appears to be just too much for the lauded Range Rover Sport.

BTW, I tried to contact Top Gear about a year ago about getting their support for a protest at Gaydon / Solihull and they never bothered to reply so I gave up - which is what I will eventually do with my RRS when I buy an RS4 Audi

It really is shocking how shoddy this car really is! It's finally gone! Replaced with BMW 730SE in Sophisto grey Xirallic finish with Oyster (Ivory) and black interior. DAB, Climate glass, Ceramic iDrive and gear selector, power boot and iPhone Bluetooth pack - luvvin' it!

I miss my old RRS "bucket" rattling around but it just had to go!

How would I know what they've done Josh - knowing them they probably put the cheaper plastic one's on just to make sure I come back (because I wouldn't any other way).

Guy Salmon seemed to have done a good job at fixing the steering - it's much better but some idiot they gave the car to for a quick wash must have used 100 grade sandpaper - Big Cry Big Cry the whole car is scratched to ribbons. Realistically, I know that they would never accept liability so I haven't said a word to them. Good job is he missed so much of the car when cleaning it some parts of the bodywork were spared his mauling!

They had the outright nerve to suggest in a letter they left in the car that they had provided me "with nothing but outstanding personal service" and hoped I would say so (tick the outstanding box) when LR send me the customer satisfaction questionnaire! Like hell I will!!

The shame is I really love this car but I hate the problems that come with it and the hasle to get it put right! It's finally gone! Ok Guys, after coming off the phone from LR exec office, I thought it best to resurrect this one.

New poll can be found here: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/post205582.html#205582

Lots of information (and moaning) can be found here: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic7227.html

Last chance chaps, you can sit on your hands on this one or live with that hideous unacceptable noise forever, your choice. Question L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!
