Is it time to bail out?

Everything aside on how much we love our cars, street presence, driving ability, driving position etc etc - is whats happening in terms of tax bands, rising diesel costs, parking permit costs - is it time to switch to something else? I'm not talking Prius time, but at what point do we stop and think about how much these cars are costing us - I am worried people are going to look at our cars when coming to selling them on - and just walk away.....

These cars are not of the moment anymore, and the impact on residuals has to be worrying for us all - unless you have a few £££££ and don;t give a toss, then fine - but thats not me, and I am worried about the money in my car Crying or Very sad

You'll always lose money on cars and there are 2 ways of ownership in my book. First you chop and change every year or route 2 which I prefer is that you keep a car for 4-6 years or more. The RRS is now 3 years old and there are plenty on the 2nd hand market - this is what is causing the downturn, LR sold too many new cars in the 1st 3 years. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Nick, I say dont give in to the Censored s!

They claim all this tax is to put people off but it isn't working anything like it is supposed to. The truth is that the "Environmental Care" approach is a smoke screen to rob us blind, just as speed cameras are laughably called safety cameras!

I wont be bullied into having something I don't want, as said before the hippie's 20 year old CV2s and camper vans pollute more!

I recycle, don't litter, don't waste unnecessarily, put far more tax into the economy that 95% of the population which can be used to positive environmental ends......I'm sure my overall carbon footprint is less than the average!

Yes I'll moan and complain but I'm not swapping cars unless its my choice!

but John, all this thats going on is costing us money - and do you not get to a point where it isn't sensible losing money in current climates.....regardless of what anyone says or what they do to tax us any more - I'm not talking about the carbon output of our cars - just what they are costing us. We all have a limit - you know it - will we still be talking like this hwne it reaches £10 a gallon??

Its hurting me but I will not be told what to spend my had earned cash on.

We are on this earth for a very short time and we are being battered by this Government with a GREEN hammer into not getting on a plane to go on holiday, not driving a safe vehicle (I live in Kent ans see foreign lorrys making a mess of cars every day) and it goes on and on.

I have this feeling that one day in the not too distant future, but when I am too old to enjoy it, we will be told that Cars did not pollute in the way we were told and it was just a great big conn into collecting more Tax.

I would rather we look after our own and stop pouring money into fighting wars in other countries that is achieving no more than making the Britich unliked in the world and of course killing and wounding many of our young soldiers. That may in fact please OPEC and we could even benefit.

I have always said the GREEN tax is a TAX and not helping the environment. At first it was socially unaceptable to agree with me as I drive a 4x4 but now it effects a wider audience it seems the tide is changing.

When my local MP asks for my vote I ask him how he is going to tax my pleasure and why should we save the world alone leaving the USA, China and India to carry on.

Nope. That is just giving into the morons - bide your time and watch all of the govt's "top of the agenda green issues" suddenly dissolve over the coming months.

At the end of the day, they want popularity and votes as to secure another opportunity of making themselves richer, with the general concensus now on the majority balking at fuel costs the govt will only have one option and that is to do something radical as to avert mass populace disruption.

Funny old world really, it was only 6 months ago that the greenies were becoming more and more popular, mainly down to the fact that people thought that changes would not cost them much more..........slap on some cost to oil and the whole economy wobbles along with Mr Mondeo's house and family stability.

At the end of the day you can only force change if there is an alternative and the change is visible....something the green agenda conveniently forgot about and hence the mass protests now brewing.

This bunch of sheisters have simply pushed people too far....and all in only 10 years, hats off to them, that's going some. Laughing Laughing L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

As we would say here in the states; "Amen to that Brother!" I couldn't agree with your sentiments more! Thumbs Up

I'm just hoping the "smoke screen" is cleared sometime soon to expose the hypocracy and blatant comunist-like treatment we are all being subjected to in the name of "environmental concerns". If I live to be 500 I could never equal the "carbon footprint" being left to promote how evil my lifestyle is! Wink '10 RRS
